I believe the two-way contract is just about how much he gets paid in the minors, if i remember correctly. So I believe he would still have to go through waivers. I doubt Ilitch really cares about the little extra money he'd have to pay to Conklin in the minors or MacDonald in the majors. Also I think I think your idea would be a very douchebag move on Conklin, just having him in the backup role and then scratching him and bringing up MacDonald for certain games. Why would he even want to be on the team if hes just there to practice and only ever plays if Howard in injured during a game. However, I think we should send Conklin down to split some time with Pearce(if hes still there) and keep MacDonald as backup the rest of the year and next year to play out his cheap $550,000 2-year contract.

We're a lucky team to have someone as good as Mursak riding the tar and able to sub in for an injury. I'm really surprised he hasn't been in more recently, when hes on the ice you can easily notice it because he seems to be flying everywhere causing havoc on the forecheck. Like so:

Kenny isn't going to hurt the team in the future for a chance to make a run this year. We really have a log jam of lower line guys, but it isn't like we're going to get someone better for them.

Smith should have been pumped he saved that shot, it was an amazing move and save. Hell everytime I see Datsyuk in the shootout he always gets the goalie in a bad position and then he either scores or misses.

Thats such an amazing alumni lineup, they could probably win some games against actual teams with that team.

Up early to head across state for the game. Last game I went to we beat Winnipeg 7-1, so hoping for a repeat performance.

Dammit now I remember why I loved the NBA lockout so much, no games on FSD+... I mean I know they share it, but this is a huge rivalry game between two of the best teams in the league and they get relegated. Oh well, I'll be at the Griffins game anyways. Sadly Nyquist won't be playing in Grand Rapids though.

I wouldn't wear a rival teams jersey, but I'm still a minor fan of other teams. I'll cheer for the Wings above all, but I like to follow younger teams like Edmonton and see them come to their potential. So if I had to get another jersey other than my Abdelkader home jersey I'd probably get a Nugent-Hopkins jersey or something like that.

Haha I couldn't believe it. The Jets scored immediately and I thought I was going to curse the Wings by being there, then all of the sudden they go the exact opposite way. I'll remember this game forever.

We want to have the best chance to win the game, especially with how tight the conference is right now. Howard has easily been one of the best in the league so obviously we are riding his hot streak. If he had faltered a little, it would've given reason to give Conklin a chance but hes been stellar this entire season. Even in back-to-back games they are still starting Howard, so I assume Conklin hasn't really been impressing anyone in practice to give him a start. Although I don't think MacDonald is that consistent, he stood on his head a few times last year which I think should grant him the chance to backup Howard.

Yeah Lidstrom had one bad turnover, but when he was deep in our zone with it I had confidence he'd be fine. He always just seems so calm when they rush in at him.

Great game. I don't get why people need to ***** about it. These are two extremely talented teams. Boston knows that we struggle from an aggressive forecheck and thats what created their goals. When we were able to move up the ice and keep possession we were dominating in their end. We aren't going to manhandle every team. This game kept me interested the whole time and that's why I watch hockey.
