Ok so why wasn't the sucker elbow to Salei's snout called? That was more blatant to the head that what Brown did. Or how about the hit from behind to Pavel's head shortly after that after he took a shot? Or the number of other hits to the head we have seen so far this young season in other games? Come on, if they want to call charging or hitting from behind, ok, the argument can be made, but he didn't intentionally go for the head, if he did he would have hit him there with no trouble, the guy was in no position to avoid that. MY point is, if you're going to call one, you have to call them all, picking and choosing when to enforce things are what piss me off. The rules seem to be enforced entirely too arbitrarily to me. And to add to that, the next time someone gets Kronwalled, should we be ok that he is gone just because the victim doesn't see him coming because he isn't looking at whats coming like he has been taught since he started skating?

First off, the guy knew he was coming. Brown didn't skate in from behind him. Clearly he hit his shoulder and it looked blindsideish because it was on the follow through. However the guy bounces right back up. There was not any contact to the head. Its clear because you can see his shoulder fly back and his head didn't jerk back. This call was made pretty much because the ref was looking right at it. That hit on Datsyuk in the hawks game wasn't called for that very reason; the ref wasn't looking. Since there have been head shots being missed already this season, I am sure the ref committee or whatever is saying to the refs on the ice to tighten up and blow the whistle. Except this guy was too quick on the whistle instead of too slow. Its a shame that the NHL and the NFL are going the wrong way about making sure their athletes are being protected from head injuries. The rules are already in place in both those leagues against dirty plays, the officials just haven't been enforcing them. Thats all they need to do is enforce the rules in place. I can't remember the last time I saw a charging call made, or hit from behind in the NHL. Those are the rules already, why do they need to add to it?

All I will say is if he gets a game for that attention getter on Selanne, then the NHL can suck it. Those hits from the Blackhawks in that second game this year were way worse. Also have seen worse offenses to the head from other guys in other games so far this year. Suspensions from them: ZERO. Only suspension I have seen is on that jackass Rypien. So much for the NHL cracking down on head shot and unnecessary blind side hits. (And yes, I am quite upset at the leagues inability to properly enforce their rules and regulations)

Thats one for the Datsyuk highlight reel this season. And he almost had one before that in the game when he pulled the puck on a string and stopped on a dime earlier in the game. I don't know how many people on this board really play hockey, but that was really amazing when you think about how fast that goes down. People talk about how fast that guy is and his eye hand coordination, but that play also shows his ability to see the game and make moves so incredibly fast. Give credit to his mental ability too. You have to process that so fast in your head. Not only does he have the presence of mind to stop and shake the defender, but he is able to gauge how Cleary will react and put it through his legs on the way to the shelf. Unbelievable how fast he can make decisions like that.

That is exactly what I said when we had the "what should the lines be" thread. We all know helm can fly and possess the puck, but can't quite finish. We also know that Hudler can finish. So I can easily see Helm feeding Jiri all day. Put Eaves on that line and you have a winner. Someone needs to remind Modano of the tempo we expect here and the engagement of the other players that is expected on the offensive side. He goes to the 4th line, or maybe takes a breather to see how the wings are supposed to play.

Ok, thats cool. I guess I didn't expect there to be player images with a resolution like that on the web. I was expecting there to be an inside source or something. Photoshop and Illustrator are great for this stuff. I always thought it would be great if I had an in to do album artwork for bands. This will be a good game for an exhibition. Looking forward to the pens game before the end of the preseason. I think they will ice the season lineup as close as possible. GO WINGS! Yeah, obviously its a rule. But my point is nobody else seemed to have a problem with it. They need to let that go. It pretty much ruined my first trip to the joe. I wanted to snap so many pictures of my favorite players against the capitals. Its not like 300 mm is going to get me into sports illustrated. especially at the top of the arena. give me a break

I would have a picture, but the jackasses at the joe wouldnt let me bring my camera in last october. They said my lens was too much like a professional lens. Even thought it only zooms 300mm. LAME. I used it in Atlanta, Anaheim, Nashville, and Denver. Those arenas didn't have an issue.

all player debates aside, here are my projections/hope for the lines next year. I may be wrong, but if they arent keeping lilja then i guess we put erricson in there but damn he sucked quite a bit last year. and dont even get started with the bertuzzi debate. hes a bum on offense and you all know it. yes he was good at keeping the team afloat with all the injuries last year, but he just isnt up to par on offense like the rest of the forwards on this list and you all know it. like some people on here said in the maltby thread, its time to stop being sentimental. he was a good fill in and thats it. end of story. you were grasping at straws last year saying he was great. he was turnover todd and you all know it. zeterberg, datsyuk, holmstrom hudler, fillpula, franzen draper, helm, eaves, miller, abdelkader, bertuzzi lidstrom, kronwall rafalski, stuart lilja, kindl

So this may be a little off topic and/or weird. But anyway, I am deploying to the desert next week for a year to work for the military. IF I make it back all in one piece I would love to be able to have a chance to meet Darren McCarty and have him show me some stuff on the ice and to just meet one of the best players IMO of all time from the Red Wings. I doubt he does stuff like that, but does anyone know if he has fan meets or hockey skill classes for people getting into the game? I just would like to meet that guy one time before I die to let him know how much I appreciate what a great player and teammate he is and for representing the winged wheel with so much passion and grit.

I am in Charleston, SC. So I take it Wings players have fan events in Detroit regularly? If so that would be cool, cuz I would have a month off if I get back and have plenty of cash on hand to make a trip to the motor city for a few days. Anybody know a decent place to stay in downtown Detroit btw?

Speaking of hating chris pronger, did you guys see the interviews on NHLs site today? I knew he was a cock hole on the ice but didn't realize he just really is one. He was a complete dick when they asked him about his beard, being a villain, and why he didn't pick up the puck after they won. No class. the reporters all don't look like his on ice opponents do they, or did I miss when that happened?
