Yeah I was kind of disappointed with the lack of class I saw with a couple of fans I saw. That and the "LOU" chants need to ******* stop. Every save, whether it was a good one or a bad one, they cheered for it. Hell, I think we missed the net by a mile once and they chanted it.

Lol, some of you guys crack me up. I was at the game and the entire 1st period, the second half of the 2nd period and probably 90% of the third period we looked pretty damn good, even without Datsyuk, Franzen, and Bertuzzi. That's a good chunk of our depth right there and we still played pretty damn good. Sure we didn't play a full game, but that's to be expected at times. No team plays hard a full 60 minutes, and it sure didn't help that every shot we threw at Luongo was stopped aside from one. Bottom line is, I'm not worried about missing the playoffs because we won't. I'm not worried about being anything shy of a 3 seed, because even if SJ passes us, who cares? As long as we're ahead of Chicago, I'm fine with it. As long as we're a 3 seed or higher, there's a 0% chance we can even play Vancouver again until the Conference Finals. Howard looked good tonight too. The first goal went off Lidstrom's skate, and unless I was seeing things, there should have been a pretty blatant penalty call made on Vancouver right before they scored the GWG. The officiating was pretty bad, as mentioned before and a number of other things I saw, and I don't think we are seeing our full potential right now. This is the team that always turns it on in the playoffs, and when they do, they really have the potential to beat any team they face. Sure they might lose some games near the end of the season, but come on...are we that spoiled that we can't stand to see a couple of late-season losses because we're so used to having a top seed that we can just choose to rest Datsyuk and Zetterberg, and back in the day players like Shanahan, Yzerman, and Fedorov. Seriously, some of you need to walk away from the panic button.

How about we just fire McCrimmon and re-hire Smith?

I thought that about him too. He has played some phenomenal games this year, but last night after that first goal went 5-hole on him, he had this look on his face of "well, this is going to be a long night." I think he might have been a little frustrated with the defensive effort in a way, especially in the first two periods, but like I said, he just looked like he was apathetic after the first goal went in.

This is embarrassing.

This is my biggest gripe about the rule. If the goaltender is completely outside of the crease, he should be fair game. I'm not saying blast the guy, but if contact occurs incidentally or not, a goal should be a goal. I haven't seen a goal in long ass time that was disallowed simply because a player's foot was in the crease first. The crease is pointless.

Thank goodness for perfect human offspring that may once follow in their father's footsteps...

That youtube video with Ken Daniels calling some of Shanny's goals made me ponder exactly how many seasons KD has been with us, so went to his wikipedia page. Just read a fact that made me absolutely respect the man more than I could have imagined, no matter how many times he says "Datsyukian": So awesome. Also, in back to back games, Zetterberg will score the GWG, with Franzen breaking his scoreless streak and Rafalski continuing to play like Olympi-falski, adding a couple helpers. 5-3 Wings. (Z, Dats, Franzen, Lids x2)

I dont especially want to play Dallas first round. That said, without picking my poison, I'd reeeeeeeally love to take down the defending champs first round, but I'm just happy we're on the top side of the seeding right now (and hopefully come playoffs).

I agree. I'd say if they don't have to, or can get through us, they're winning the Cup this year.

To be honest, though, all of our defensemen save for Lids and Stuart look lazy as s*** out there. Maybe it's just the fact that Dallas was quicker than us last night, but Rafalski looked slow, Kronwall looked slow, Ericsson looked outright bad at times (respectable for fighting though), and Salei looked okay at times, but overall, our defense just looks like it's making all the wrong decisions out there at all the worst times. Seems to me like this could be a coaching issue or a defensive pairing issue, but I've never seen what I saw last night happen as much as it did. All the mistakes have to be coming from somewhere, and it's too bad because before the game against SJ, we hadn't allowed more than 2 goals since February 9th. I'm not saying we need a trade because it was made pretty clear that we aren't going to get anyone who is a top defenseman willing to take bottom defenseman money and play there, but I really think they need some sort of a confidence booster to get back to where they were a few games ago. Last night was just incredibly sloppy.

I don't know what's worse, the officiating in this game or the fact that I should be studying instead of watching this bulls***.

If I recall correctly, Ozzie said his career is going to end in Detroit. So if his injury isn't going to heal before the time comes to make a trade, I could see him retiring and becoming a part of the Red Wings organization as a continuing mentor for Howie. Sucks for Ozzie, but he'd have to come to terms that it might be time to hang 'em up.

He did look rather confident today, although that five hole GA looked like Osgood...

What a goal by Helm. Totally deserved it.
