Without me reading the entire thread and because I can't find an answer on the internet anywhere, does anyone know the policy behind him being waived by the Islanders? Didn't someone say at some point in this thread that if the Islanders waive him because he won't report, that the Wings could claim him at that point? Edit: let me know if this is true: The Islanders got an opportunity to claim him due to their low rank on the standings, so does that same fact hold true if he's waived again, or do the Wings have first opportunity because they were the ones that initially signed him?

How does Marty Turco REALLY feel about Pierre McGuire?

I was going to say something along these lines. -
I don't think there's going to be a season anytime soon where the Wings won't be contenders, but I do think that despite Nabby's playoff history, he would have definitely been a real help in the goaltending department for us. I knew it was more or less a pipe dream that he'd pass through waivers (which is a process I don't agree with at all...there really should be some way that teams could circumvent that BS), but the idea definitely sounded cool. He'd be like this era's Hasek.

I know it's been beaten to death but I am so ******* sick of the fights after clean hits s*** that happens every ******* time.

Drapes sure as hell looked like a star the other night with his goal against Edmonton.

Zetterberg needs a little more jump to his shootout moves. Thankfully that's only our second of the season.

Fixed. Sorry, I had to spell check that monstrosity of a post. Welcome to LGW, but if you want people to take you seriously, maybe take a little time and make your post a little more readable. As far as your points go, I agree with the fact that we don't really have an enforcer type of player on our team, but as of right now, I don't really see why we would need it. We're beating teams on the score sheet. Sure Hudler is essentially invisible this year, but I thought he played a little harder against Edmonton the other night. Modano was playing well up until he got injured too. Like I said, I don't know really what caused you to want to bring this up because it's not like teams are taking runs at our players or our players are getting injured in dirty play. We're a skilled team all around and as long as we're playing hard, I don't see the need for an enforcer. Not exactly the best team, plus they play in a division that contains the bottom two teams in the much weaker Eastern Conference. I'd expect them to be close to the top of the conference, as well as the NHL. But they're 4th. Not the best.

Saw this earlier on NHL.com and lost it. So good.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who caught that. I was confused for a second but then I realized it was Murph who said it, so I was barely surprised.

Yeah I watched that with my dad on Christmas eve. I wanted to know when the goals were coming so I looked up the scoring summary and said to him "okay, now pay close attention, because you're about to see something you might not get to see much more this season..."
-
Eh, I'd think whoever's playing forward would realize pretty quickly to cover for the shot taker if the shot didn't go through. But yeah, almost carbon copy play.
-
Hard to believe anyone associated with the team would be happy with the Devils right now.

I see a lot of negativity in this thread. I'm not surprised, but I think it's a little silly. Sure, we lost Cleary, who just happens to be our best offensive player right now. You know who's overdue to step up and make s*** happen? Franzen. Filppula. Hudler. Bertuzzi. etc. You guys remember last year when we had a lot more players than this out of our lineup? Sure we lost some games, but we had other players step in and play a bigger role on the team. To be honest, I'm totally fine with some of the aforementioned players above not really performing to their potential (or at least expected potential around here), as long as they step up and perform when they know they need to. You're also forgetting that regardless of not scoring a goal yet this season, Rafalski has 23 assists with a +9. He's helping others score. Remember last season when Lidstrom was looking a little old? He's looking like he's about 25 right now. All we really need is Filppula to shoot the puck more. The kid's got a decent enough shot that he would score a lot more often if he would just shoot the puck more. Zetterberg and Cleary's goals last night proved that you can do wonders if you catch a goaltender off their guard. When Datsyuk and Cleary come back, we might not be still #1 in the West and #3 overall, but we won't be in the basement. The West is tight, but we're also a very deep team with a lot of players that showed last year, even with a depleted roster, they could make s*** happen when it mattered. Also, if Cleary doesn't come back with some ******* ankle guards, I'm going to look him up and send him some myself.

******* hell, Stuart. Another one of those "Hey I'm Brad Stuart and I'm going to take a one-timer for no good ******* reason" shots that never do anything good.

I'm pretty surprised this thread didn't show up on Wednesday around 8:15. Seriously, I checked the boards on my phone from the bar.

If I wasn't going to do it, someone else would have.

How do you think the Wings will do without Dats?
lookalive07 replied to #19=Legend's topic in General
All they need is Franzen to play like he knows how and he could easily pick up the slack. -
