Capgeek has $1,612,123 left for Abdelkader and buffer
lookalive07 replied to CenterIce's topic in General
I'd hate to see Miller go just because I love anyone who wore the Green and White back in their college days, but if it must be done, it must be done. Wings being better is my main interest. -
That hit could have been considered boarding but man was it awesome. Good to see the extension made. I'm itching for the season to start more and more each day.

Get 'er done Kenny!

I watched the 97 Cup winning game the other day, but it was a CBC feed so it wasn't as nostalgic. I paused it before Lids' goal and went on youtube to find the clip of Gary Thorne calling the goal, and then did the same for DMac's goal. Gave me chills.

The nod to Datsyuk is at least a tiny bit respectable, regardless of the credibility of the list as a whole.

In a perfect world where we pay Derek Meech 1/3 that.

Who made this?

vs. Personally, I think Z wins.

Off topic, but I am SO glad that Ken Daniels doesn't act like that retard. I'd probably have to watch games on mute if I was a Bruins fan.

Wings, City of Detroit extend lease talks on the Joe
lookalive07 replied to wings1110's topic in General
I wasn't talking about it being a permanent home. I was talking with the 10-15 mil that is proposed for renovations for the Joe will be less costly and less painful for the already struggling Detroit economy in the end. If Illitch is smart (which we all know he is), he knows this fact and knows that people working for Olympia Entertainment will be forever indebted to him if he keeps the Wings at the Joe for a few more seasons while a new arena is built. Like I said, it would definitely be more costly if the Red Wings moved to Auburn Hills with everything that would have to go into making it a full-time season dual arena. -

Yeah but 10-15 mil is chump change compared to all the necessary s*** they'd have to do to accommodate the move to the Palace. We're talking about sponsorship changes, employees that would either not have a job or have to be relocated, the change in schedules for both the Pistons and the Red Wings and the necessary switches from court to ice each time the teams had home games. It would likely be much more expensive to relocate until the new arena is built. Plus, we get to see them in the Joe for at least one more year, and that's just fine with me. -

While I'd love for the Wings to be able to play in a new arena within the next few years, I sure am going to miss going to the Joe. Nostalgia galore. -
Yeah, I don't trust Ken Holland at all. After all, he can't be partially responsible for all of our success including partially responsible for the last four Stanley Cups we've won, right? This guy's a joke! Seriously though, have a little f***in' faith. Do you honestly think Holland would keep our lineup with a possible back-end D rotation of Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart, and then 2 or 3 players with little to no clue? The answer you're looking for here is "no".

I was wrapped in a Red Wings blanket when I was born. This is a fact. Abandoning that would likely call for my father disowning me as not just his only son, but as a human being.

Toews: Most undeserving Conn Smyth winner in history?
lookalive07 replied to blues_demitra38's topic in General
@OP who would you have rather taken the CS? Kane?! -
Yeah, I'd say Toews is just a damn good player, and a damn good leader. Is he comparable to Yzerman at this point in his career? No. If the Blackhawks win the Cup this year, that is the only thing he would have before Yzerman at the same spots in their respective careers, but that's about it. Yzerman didn't have the offensive firepower backing him up like Toews does and that is the difference maker.

Mods, delete this before someone takes notice. This frightens me.

He got us where we were in the playoffs and also couldn't make some routine stops in the SJ series. Inconsistency aside, you can't play every game like you're Jesus in goalie pads. I'm content, however, with knowing that he will recover and be even better next year.

Wow, I'm really glad we got rid of this guy...
-
WOW really? That's really, really stupid. What's next, they're going to prohibit people watching the games in bars that charge a door cover? I mean, it's basically the same f***in' thing.

FSD's John Keating offers his condolences to Sid and the Penguins.
lookalive07 replied to Setemupknockem's topic in General
I just gained some respect for JK. He's a pretty damn good writer...maybe he can just practice his broadcasting skills a little bit and maybe he'd be a little less awkward on television. Who knows, but like I said, respect gained. -
This happens and the team is called the Jets again, I'm buying a jersey.
-
Bottom line: he starts putting pucks in the net starting tonight, we have a shot at taking a couple of games. Combine that with Howard playing better, Datsyuk and Zetterberg playing like we all know they can and keeping Jason Williams out of the lineup, and we could make it out of this series alive. We must remember, these are the San Jose Sharks we're playing. They haven't really had a choking moment yet this post-season...aside from the own-goal OT loss. I think they're due.

This. If I were going tonight, under absolutely no circumstances would I leave any time before the final second has ticked off the clock.
