A fair price imo. I think this will turn out to be a good signing for the Rangers. He and LA management were butting heads for a while I think Frolov will have a rebound year. A fresh start will do him good.

If i recall correctly you cannot trade a player for a period of one year after they go through arbitration. Chicago either accepts the arbitrators contract and Niemi is unmovable for 1 year or they decline it and Niemi becomes a UFA.

What i was getting at is that he will be a RFA not a UFA so yes we would have to give something up if we were to sign him with a offer sheet.

Anyone that's getting their hopes up for Dougthy i recommend you stop now and save yourself from heartbreak when LA resigns him... He is going to be a stud no doubt, but its not worth it to dismantle the team to get him.

I think the chances of him getting to free agency are about the same as us signing Kovy. Its not like LA doesn't have money to spend. I cant see why he would leave unless Lombardi slaps his mom or something crazy happens.

I think people are underestimating Niemi. Sure hes no Patrick Roy but he had a solid regular season and playoffs(even with a shaky finals). Who are the hawks going to replace him with? Someone from their farm system with next to no NHL experience? Turco might be a slight upgrade but sounds like he wants more than the Hawks can afford. Théodore would be a downgrade imo. Not to mention they will have a scrub for a back up regardless of what happens. Its such a mess.
