If the knocks against Semin are so overblown, why was he benched in the 3rd period of game 4 along with Ovechkin and Green? Can't see the Sharks going for a straight up trade. We would have to add a little more, which would make the trade much more unappealing here.

1. Franzen scored 28 goals. I don't care if it was with Datsyuk or not, he still brought goals to the table and scored more than anyone on the team. If you don't think that is top 6 based on that, then you are bonkers. 2. Only 40 or so players are invited to the all star game. Only 24 of those are forwards. There are 180 forwards who could be considered in the top 6 for teams in the NHL. Franzen doesn't have to be a top 24 forward in the league to be considered for the top 6. 3. If you can bring in a top-tier forward and either put Franzen on the other side or put him on the second line with Zetterberg and Filppula, then you will have a working top 6. Franzen isn't signed like a superstar (except for the length, which wouldn't be a problem if you unloaded him to a cap hungry team in his later years) and he can score you goals well enough. And how anyone can think of Semin as a worthwhile signing with his ego and work ethic is beyond me. We need hard working talent and a couple crashers and bangers. We don't need ego-talent.

Hossa had 29 goals this season. 25 the year before (due to injuries which are common with the winger). If you guys want to argue for Hossa, argue for his overall points. Not just his goals. He isn't guaranteed for 40 every season.

The team in general is awful. Not just Franzen. Everyone except for maybe two people.

Howard is getting a lot of undue flak. You know who else got a lot of undue flak? Osgood. Let's hope that Howard proves the haters wrong like he did.

Actually, the bolded is 100% accurate. No team has had the success for as long as Detroit has had, so you cannot compare their fanbase mentality to ours. We have fans who expect conference finals finishes each year (warranted or not isn't the point). Nashville's fanbase is excited for a potential Stanley Cup run. Of course they are going to have more vocal and excited fans. They haven't had a single conference final appearance in their history, and this is the first year for them it is a reality. Remember how loud the Bluejackets fanbase was in 2009? Same exact scenario. If the honeymoon wears off and the Predators have consistent success to the degree the Red Wings did in the mid/late 90s, their fans will be less vocal and crazy in the early rounds.

Remember Franzen has been a great playoff contributor since 2008. Last season was an aberration as far as that was concerned. This season isn't really looking good on anyone either, so I can't exactly say I'm surprised.

If he is let go I will lose complete faith in Holland. There are no real options available and Babcock, while partial to certain players at times, is a damn fine coach.

Does anyone really seem their normal selves this series? I honestly feel like the Wings are stuck in a haze for some reason and just cannot bring themselves to bring a competitive team to the table for a full 60 minutes. It is incredibly frustrating, and the worst part of it is I don't even know if Holland will make the necessary changes over the offseason. Even if the Wings make it past this round, it is clear things need to change.

Filppula's fall from grace has been the most surprising of all of this. The problem isn't with Filppula, though. It is with the fact the team cannot generate anything overall. Filppula cannot be called on to carry the team despite his amazing season.

The Penguins didn't have home ice in 2009. This is a huge mountain for the Penguins to climb. To even get back into the series they will have to win both of their games in an intense Philly arena. If not, series over.
