Game 3. Howard did not have a good postseason by any stretch, but he is a rookie. People need to understand BOTH of those points if they want to truly understand Howard as a goaltender.
-
Simply based on price I would pick Hossa.
-
Basically. Kindl when from top prospect to average goat in a quick span. Nobody expects much from him anymore.

Detroit didn't lose because of lack of grit. They lost because their special teams, defense, and offense at times was downright disgusting.

I hope the Sharks pull it off. They deserve it this year.

Kook where do you come up with these things?

Strange how the Wings took over that game after that. Hmmmm...
-
Like who? Dan "the monster" Cleary? Johan "the gloved puncher" Franzen? Jimmy "the face-washer" Howard? Brad May is the only one who would attempt to trade blows with any Sharks player, and I don't think we will be seeing him in the lineup any time soon.

Never thought i'd say this,but...

The good news is a salary that is expensive today may not be so expensive in 5 years. -
Detroit is old and one win wont change that.

What can I say, I'm a complicated individual. Here is my final rendition of that shop. If anyone is interested in a background (my last attempt hit it off pretty well) without the title just PM me your screen resolution and I'll be happy to resize it.

Yeah I just took the original photo and decided to edit, instead of making it a background resolution.

So what? His injury is only a factor when he isn't scoring? I never said I didn't buy a torn rotator cuff injury getting worse. The guy scored 2 goals in three game 4s. When exactly did his injury start to get worse and if so how did he suddenly score in pairs like that? My point is he underacheived, and you can say the injury made that okay, but the point is obvious that he did not play up to his potential. And since you all seem to be ignoring it what excuse does he have this year for having a sub-par playoff performance? (In fact goal scoring wise he is doing worse this year) I will reiterate ONCE AGAIN that I loved Hossa on this team and was sad to see him go. But he did not perform to the expectations required of him and if his injury was going to be such a factor he should have had the surgery two years ago when they signed him. Either that or the trainers should be fired.
-
Once again I don't buy the "injury was the reason" excuse. Sure he had an injury. But he was able to score 40 goals in the regular season. And at times was a monster in the playoffs (see game 4 of the first 3 series). The guy just did not get it done, injury or not. And he isn't doing much better on a stacked Chicago team either, injury or not. I love Hossa to death but he just did not get it done and was not worth getting rid of Franzen or another key piece to the Red Wings machine.

These threads always implode in the end and that's why I love them so much!

Funny how I never said that. I said that he is being paid a certain amount and he needs to earn that amount. He didn't earn it in the playoffs, let alone for another contract in place of one of Detroit's draftees (who has scored more goals in the 2008+2009 playoffs than the last two Conn Smythe winners) Kenny Holland cares. "Gave it his all" sounds like something you tell the guys who end up losing in the end. Ergo it is meaningless. His role was to score goals and he didn't do that for the team. He lost it in the playoffs and he hasn't shown a vast improvement with the Hawks. Actually he isn't even outscoring last post-season's Hossa right now (unless he scores 2 goals in game 4). If he was able to fight through the injuries he should have had more than 6 goals scored in 3/25 games. You can't say "well he is a great player who fought through injuries" when he succeeds then say "oh he is still a great player but he was injured" right after that. I have nothing against Hossa and hope he wins the cup in his career. But to say he did what it took to win is ridiculous. He isn't the only one who underachieved either.
-
Hossa was the only one of the under-performers making 7.4 million and had the biggest reason to perform. His injury didn't stop him from scoring 40 goals but he did not play up to his potential at all in the playoffs. Scoring in THREE GAMES of 20 or so is not what you should get out of a forward of his caliber.
-
I am satisfied with Franzen's performance. He has been involved in 9 goals for the team and 2 for himself. That seems pretty good for a guy coming off a knee injury.
-
Would he honestly be doing more than Franzen out there?
