I believe it was Crymson who brought it up, which I find completely retarded considering some of Detroit's favorite players (McCarty/Probert) were found to be doing not so legal things. I find it irrelevant because though I find the off-ice antics deplorable in these cases, I really don't care as long as it doesn't affect their performance on the ice. What was he supposed to make? No idea. Not 5 million tax free that's for sure. Crymson: would you honestly deny a year of double your original pay (TAX FREE) with the ability to come back to company that hired you and not work for a competing company simply because "2.75 is more than reasonable"? Give me a break. Also your "how dare he spend Holland's precious time to figure out what he wants to do" argument is ridiculous. He shouldn't be forced to make a rash decision.

Do you enjoy making s*** up simply because you have dug yourself into a hole? Hudler wasn't going to make a rash decision simply because the team has cap problems. That's on the GM to figure out and those are the risks KENNY takes. KENNY needs to be aware of who will become a free agent at what time and be able to have a game plan set up. He did everything he could and unfortunately Sammy was a victim of the cap. These are human beings. Human beings who play a sport in which they don't know when they will stop making money (hint: most people don't end their careers in their late 30s). Also consider the possibility of injuries ending their career or preventing them from making as much money as they planned. Hudler was focusing on his future and his finances. He should never have to disregard his own needs simply because the team he plays for is in a bit of a vice. And considering the circumstances (not going to another NHL team and allowing the Wings to keep his rights) I would say he made a decision to help both parties.

In all honesty where did prostitution come into the mix anyway?
-
Well it didn't take long for Washington to smack all the doubters in the face.

Chara was statistically worse than Lidstrom that year. It was a case of Lidstrom having a sub-par first half and the media clinging to that as much as possible. Chara was not better than Lidstrom last year. If Hudler can get 57 points on the 3rd line I really don't care. The guy has proven he can hack it in the NHL and provide offense. He is going to play for the Wings next year and he is going to provide offense they need.

I was really hoping this would be a thread to commemorate Osgood's dedication to the shot/shift/whatever charts. You disappointed me, OP.
-
I honestly wonder what they are going to do with that team now that their team is destined for post-season failure. This is just getting comical, now.

EPIC DAN BOYLE!

Pumping nads? What?

Osgood is not playoff-ready. Howard is the Wings' only shot at this point, and even if he pulls a Legace he will be the man we have to rely on in the playoffs. Thread over.
-
Okay, Howard what the f*** are you doing? The good thing is Osgood is so rusty we can't fall back on him if things get worse with Howard.

I'm commenting on one player's sub-par performance. The defense doesn't make his performance any better than it is. And visa versa. You don't see me getting into a discussion with people who are giving the defense s*** for their terrible play, are you?
-
Good example of diverting the blame to other people in order to take away from the fact Howard hasn't been playing like the Wings need him to play.
-
Howard has NOT been playing fine. The team hasn't been doing well but you cannot say with a straight face that the regular season Howard has been in this series.
-
I would also like to point out that Howard let in a goal within the first minute of the game and within the last minute of the second. Those are backbreaking goals.
-
Howard rebound control? Not a problem at all, right?
-
Since when has Franzen EVER played like Miller? I'm not surprised the amount of people calling for the Mule's head. The guy plays a style that makes him invisible unless he is scoring. It's always been like this.
-
So? He scored around half his points on the PP. Most of his goals were at even strength.
-
Love that intro.

Players are bigger. Players are stronger. The game is faster. The pads are harder. There is no way you can compare the two time periods when it comes to hitting. Things have changed, and it makes things more dangerous for the players because of that.
-
Once again Steve Downie plays with top tier talent every night. Grigorenko was involved in an car accident that really hurt his development.

Cap hit is 5.25, which is an issue that was brought up regarding Zetterberg's and Franzen's front-loaded contracts. St. Louis's cap would only be 2.15 mil less than Lidstrom's current contract, and considering nobody is as valuable as Lidstrom is he would be top priority signing wise even if Holland thinks of trying to nab Marty.

Sutton's hit was North/South. Richard's was East/West. Different types of hits.
