This. Big players are useless if they don't play their size. Smaller guys going at high speeds are still carrying hundreds of pounds of weight and that weight is going to hurt if they do it right and often. Size helps a lot, but only if they use it.
-
Those stats can't be right, Eva, considering the Wings are 8-0-2 in their last ten.
-
Where are you from?
-
If anything you should be happy that your "idea" was used in a public setting for a professional hockey team.
-
And once again the fact he has been playing with Stamkos and St. Louis is ignored...
-
I'm not going to "blame" Howard, but it was a stoppable shot. The defense was terrible and Howard wasn't "great" tonight. He needs a rest.
-
Well it wasn't that great of an angle shot. If he had gotten in closer it may have been an issue but he just fired it almost as soon as he got it.
-
What do you expect when Lilja isn't out there?
-
Cool story, bro.

For starters, if he is playing LESS time than Stamkos and St. Louis, that would mean the pair are not playing with Downie every shift. Which would mean Downie would be on the bench. Secondly, whether you are up against the other team's top lines is irrelevant if you have a possible 50 goal scorer and a 90+ point Hart and Pearson winner on either side of you. Hudler never had anything close to that and Downie wouldn't have anything like that on the Wings. Thirdly, what makes you think Downie has any more defensive abilities than Hudler? (also don't give me the size balogna, since he scored 57 points regardless) Finally we can't forget the possibility that Tampa will not likely part with Downie, and that Hudler belongs to the Wings when he comes back. Would be silly to say no to a player who chose not to go to a competing club and stick with the team after leaving for Russia for a couple years, no? There is nothing that would cause a rational GM to take Downie over Hudler.

Rafalski is 36. Why would any GM want to re-draft a 36 year old defenseman when there are plenty of younger ones out there to pick from?
-
Thing of beauty right there.

There is a difference between blindly loving and blindly hating a player. You are doing the latter. The latter, my good sir.

And being a Red Wing fan you should hope for the best possible scenarios, involving all its players. Osgood getting torched doesn't bode well for the Wings in any situation. Like I said, you are hoping for a specific player to falter because you want the satisfaction of seeing those who believe he still can hack it as a goaltender in the NHL to be "proven wrong". By one game. One game where the goaltender in question hasn't played consistently since 2009. Your hope is not only completely unbecoming of a true fan but is also ridiculously stupid in logic. You really think Osgood's mettle as a goaltender will be proven by this game when he has been riding the bench for months? Really?

Octopus, you really need to calm down about it, because every fanbase has what you describe. I've heard Wings fans talk about the same bulls*** that you accuse the Caps fans of doing it, and it is even worse for us because of the sense of entitlement some Wings fans have. If they aren't winning they are either playing like crap or there is something going against them. That doesn't make Wings fans in general whining, entitled, snobs who only think the world revolves around them. Seriously, your experience in Washington is the rule of fans across the country, for every team out there. They have new fans because they are a new powerhouse and as a Wings fan you should be able to sympathize considering the amount of bandwagoning for the Wings in the 90s.
-
The true fan: hoping his team's goaltender gets torched simply so he can rub it in other people's faces. I wish I had your dedication. Clutch: Hey, how about your mom?
-
You forgot one thing: Faralski has played with the best player this decade since he got here. He has great offensive skills but his defensive deficiencies are covered by his defensive partner. If he was with Kronwall or Stuart he would look even worse.
-
Once again, he is playing with St. Louis and Stamkos. Hudler didn't play with the top lines except on the powerplay. Considering Hudler has improved in point totals since he has been a regular on the team (while playing with 3rd liners most of the time) I don't see how you could even think to say no because a player with more "tenacity" is having his first decent year while playing with a forward who has 46 goals currently and another with 90 points (don't forget the Hart and Pearson trophies he has shining on his mantle).
-
That's because Bertuzzi is a ******* moron of a hockey player. No hockey sense at all.
-
Cause, you know, Downie hasn't been playing with guys like Marty St. Louis and Steven Stamkos most of the year... Can someone post the TOI Hudler had while he was here? Seriously it amazes me people still act like Hudler wasn't getting bottom 6 minutes and still brought second line numbers to the Wings.
-
Ever since the Olympics he has been relatively terrible. Vancouver really needs to get him back on his game before the playoffs, because if not I don't think they are deep enough to make up for his play in net.
-
People really don't understand how the video is supposed to work. You show the aftermath, then it goes backwards into the play. It's ruining these videos for me.

Must correspond to his current Plus/Minus per game.
