Wait, I am reading that Holland OFFERED Hossa a 12 year 4-point-something million dollar cap hit, but he chose to sign in Chicago for more than 5 mil. Conklin was looking for a steep price tag (for the role he was meant to play) and after all the time the Wings spent trying to get Howard NHL ready they needed to at least see if he could play. Howard wasn't even meant to play as much as he is now. It was expected that Osgood would start the majority of the games and that if Howard did screw the pooch they could give Osgood a tougher workload while shopping for another goaltender.

Holland didn't have much of a choice on that matter.

No. If you play the Sharks and beat them you are likely to face the Hawks in the next round. The Wings do not want to play the 1 and 2 teams respectively in the playoffs. If they play the Hawks in the first round it is possible the Sharks will knock themselves out and the Wings won't have to worry about playing against them next round. If the Sharks do win, then they are more likely to lose in the second anyway.

Obviously considering the "human 5 hole" hasn't played consistently since 2009. He is as cold as an ice cream sandwich right now.

I am not saying that I have the same hockey knowledge as someone who played in Juniors, OHL, AHL, the NHL, or any higher form of hockey. I'm just saying the sarcasm when revealing your "authority" is irritating, especially on an anonymous message board where I've seen plenty of people lie about themselves in order to gain the admiration of other anonymous people (not accusing you EZ). The observations should be able to stand on their own without throwing "I did this" or "I went to that" around. I deal with that enough in my day job.

Now you are putting words in my mouth. I claimed that you are acting like a big shot ON THIS FORUM because you played in junior. Never said that you stated that you were more knowledgeable than the Wings brass. My entire point was you are attempting to belittle other posters. "What do I know, right? I only played junior." For starters that is argument to authority, and nobody is going to care that you played junior unless you actually use your knowledge, apply it here and bring out logical points (and you can do that without ever trying to sarcastically bring up how you played in junior).

Congrats on playing juniors. But you aren't automatically an authority on NHL knowledge just because you played in those leagues. It's not even close to the same thing as the NHL. But what do I know, I'm just a stereotypical keyboard warrior who knows nothing about the sport in comparison to the experts who played so many years in junior freaking hockey.

I think it is unquestionably Howard for these reasons: 1. Goaltenders are much more important in games than other players because they play all 60 minutes in games. 2. Howard has had to steal multiple games for the Wings (and has done so) 3. There was no offense on this team for the first few months of the season and Howard needed to be very good to keep the team in games most nights 4. He has played a lot 5. The Wings are one or two points from being out of the playoffs and him letting in one or two goals at crucial parts of certain games would have put the Wings on the outside looking in There you go.

This. The Ladd goal he was out for was no way his fault. Zetterberg over-committed on a hit when Lils was right there and Lebda/Filpulla teamed up to get the puck right in front of Howard.

This is why I have little faith in LGW. Osgood vs. Boston? Osgood vs. Washington? Osgood vs. Chicago? To the OP: Howard hasn't been great since the break but he hasn't been AWFUL. He has been getting the wins regardless and as long as he doesn't ruin the Wings he should keep getting his chances. Way too knee-jerk.
