How did Hudler's former contract lose Hossa? He isn't on the cap hit... And I don't think Cleary's contract is THAT bad. -

If the Wings make the playoffs it is Jimmy in net minus a string of horrific games. If he falters, he will go to Osgood just like he did in 08. No big deal there. If Detroit can at least win every 2 of 3 they will have a good shot of making the playoffs. Can they? Depends on which team shows up every night.

Can someone bring up the numbers to show what the team would look like with Hossa for Filpulla? Who would need to go for the Hoss to be a part of this team other than Fil? -

Depends on the deal Hossa would get. If it is a long term, no thanks. Too many guys with long term contracts and the longer time goes on the harder it is to get rid of any of them if need be. It also will kill the Wings if the cap goes down and they are sidelined by all these expensive contracts (in time they will be expensive for the player behind them). So, n/a for me. -
Anything? Like keep three players with longterm contracts into their late 30s (and early 40s)? If it is between Franzen and Hossa that is a different story, but how many long term deals do we really want?

Yeah but, with Osgood? When is the last time the guy played a hockey game? I mean come on we are supposed to be trying to prop these goaltenders up motivationally and you kill two birds in one stone by pulling Howard after 4 goals and then putting a very rusty Osgood to play arguably worse. Me no likey. Me also no likey missing Franzen's goal because of crap in the household going on. How was it?

Yeah. I don't see why Babs pulled Howard. Perhaps if it was the other way around, but Osgood is not exactly in the position to be put out there willy nilly and do well.
