I thought he wasn't listed on the roster, though? No way should Franzen play if he gets back into shape. He is not ready to play a full NHL game at 100% let alone a hockey tournament of that scale.

Surprisingly I wouldn't be surprised to see that. The Sedins have really picked up and the team as a whole looks much better. At least one of San Jose or Chicago will be out by the second round. Of course Detroit could very well go down with them.

Chris Osgood proves Jimmy Howard should be in goal for Red Wings

I'm sorry, I thought discussion forums were for discussions? I guess next time I read a forum and have a disagreement, I'll be sure to mind my business, because LGW is not for any kind of discussion about different opinions on the sport of hockey and the Detroit Red Wings. Silly me. -

Here's a tip: Don't respond to me. I come here for discussion with other posters. If you don't want any then don't continue the discussion. In fact, if you want to act like my opinion doesn't matter (despite the fact you have responded to me TWICE) then just put me on ignore. There are plenty of people here who are able to put on a civil discourse without acting like a child. Also, if you can't take a little jab for a spelling error (it was barely an attack) then you obviously have some issues. -
It makes sense in a way. When the Wings were getting hit with the injuries they had to adapt to a more dump and chase style instead of puck-possession. When the injuries stopped occurring they were able to play that style and use it effectively (Howard's play at the time didn't hurt either). Now that more of the talent is coming back, they are trying to go BACK to a puck-possession game when they just spent a month re-working their entire system so now the Wings are having trouble adjusting. And by having trouble I mean screwing the pooch.

Chicago isn't getting Kovy unless the gut a good portion of their roster. Anyone remember the Chara/Luongo/Thornton deals?

My point exactly. If you aren't going to be civil then don't bother mentioning me. Despite my "fanatic" behavior I discuss the issue instead of throw ad hom attacks at people who disagree with me as if they mean something. Especially when you list baseless assertions. Grow up.

Lilja has a much better form than either of them. As long as we wrap his head in bubble wrap he should be okay.

The facts are relevant and don't point to your conclusions. I'm also not interested in the weather, thank you. Not for a lack of trying. Once again, the facts don't point to that. Pretty sure the argument of "doesn't try in the regular season but turns it on in the postseason" came around BEFORE he "whined" to the press. And I use that term loosely. -

I don't think you as a fan have any reason to assume how a player is acting unless you have proof of it. Howard has said Osgood is a great mentor to him. Babcock has said he has been trying in practice. Osgood has been saying that Jimmy has a good head on his shoulders. From my perspective that is all true, and I don't think I've seen a lackadaisical player on the team since Lang laced up the skates. Just because someone does better in the playoffs than they do in the regular season doesn't mean they don't really care. Look at Zetterberg for instance. When the playoffs roll around he turns into a freaking dynamo out there. -
This. I fought a guy who had 50 pounds on me. The guy cleaned my clock with three solid checks, and after the third I just couldn't take it anymore so I went after him. I lost, but I defended myself. Players need to do that instead of look for an "enforcer" or whoever to do their work for them.

This. Give Osgood enough to whet his appetite (and two in a row if he plays well enough for it) but give Howard more opportunities to steal a game for us since he has already done so this season. -

Honestly? Have people stopped watching the past few games? Neither goaltender is winning, so why exactly is it so imperative that we focus on which goaltender should play? -
I thought it was awesome to be quite honest.

4 to 1 rotation is reasonable. However I doubt that is going to happen which bug the hell out of me, especially when goaltending isn't losing games right now. -

Doc Holliday replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
I'm talking about the last few games. Before that I was always a proponent of having Howard get more starts than Osgood (not 12 in a row but more). Right now both Osgood and Howard are losing. And it is because the team is mentally unable to hold a lead or play a full 60 minutes. They are leaving players wide open in front of their goaltenders and unless one of them gets a Howard Vs. LA performance that isn't likely to change with the goaltending. The entire problem when I discuss this issue is people acting like I'm talking about the season as a whole. I'm talking about these last few games. -

Osgood had plenty of odd man rushes that he was more than capable of stopping. It is all about hindsight. Howard has helped Detroit in these last few games no better than Osgood has. And that has nothing to do with the goaltending. Detroit is just collapsing and using the goaltending as a crutch. When they are paid as much as they are, you can't do that. -

I'm surprised there were no "Shaky Howard" articles when the Wings collapsed in the last few games with him in net. Oh that's right...because THE GOALTENDING HASN'T BEEN THE PROBLEM. -
Well played.

I'm not discussing the "points" you are making.

We don't have Therrien to fire. Parallel over.

Well considering this is the first time I've posted regarding your "doom and gloom" I wouldn't say I was ever under your posts to begin with. In fact, your current cycle of posts reminds me of this: Over and over and overrrr.

Hey how about your mom.

Flailing is a reaction. Do you think Osgood has tourrettes or something? He just flails regardless of what is going on?
