The Value of an Enforcer: Brad May/ The Misunderstood Point Sytem

Added an L because the previous was misspelled. -
The Value of an Enforcer: Brad May/ The Misunderstood Point Sytem

Well my point is there isn't much to analyze. You aren't going to get much from Brad May's +/- considering he plays five minutes a night, but from actually watching him play you can see he has done well. Good for him. -
The Value of an Enforcer: Brad May/ The Misunderstood Point Sytem

What analysis? Brad May is doing well. If the team was doing better as a whole I would expect him to be at least even right now. Good for May and hopefully the Wings can get some wins together while the team is injured. -
The guy is like a penalty kill on skates. Last game he took like three penalties.
-
Ilitch is spelled with one L.

If that were the case I'd be your twin. Also I don't know who didn't want May in the lineup. I loved the guy after seeing his interview where he was trying to sell himself to Kenny. And there were high hopes for Leino because he did have a good few games statistically last year. So forgive us for expecting him to do well this season.

I've made my stance pretty clear on the subject. I enjoy having enforcers in the lineup, because they work hard, don't hurt the team, and stir s*** up on the ice. I however do not believe they are incredibly significant in the grand scheme of things, and I argue with the "pro-enforcer" crowd because of this. Unlike some I don't argue in black and white and I think that is the biggest problem with these threads. Either you like enforcers and they deter cheapshots or you like Euros and hate anyone who fights. It's ridiculous. Next time we have a thread like this I'm going to have to say this all over again because someone is going to forget.

Would you take Ilya Kovalchuk if Lidstrom retires?
Doc Holliday replied to Miller Brew's topic in General
No, he said that Kozlov was the only piece of home-grown talent that wasn't let go for a significant reason. That is not the case. -
I missed most of the game so I can't get into a twenty page argument dealing with semantics and interpretation. Next time?
-
Point out how I'm anti-enforcer. I'd love to hear it.

Can't be letting your threads hog the internets. Good on you.

Kozlov was let go for Hall of Fame goaltender Dominik Hasek. -
And it will turn overtime into a boring event because teams will not want to take any chances and lose that extra point. Not good.

Lidstrom with worst shooting percentage - just sad
Doc Holliday replied to Inultus's topic in General
Last time I checked the reason Lidstrom is making Lidstrom-level money is because his contract deemed it to be so. I doubt Lidstrom (if he was a FA over last off-season) would ask for a 7 million dollar contract based on this play. If there is an injury then it really doesn't make much difference how much he is making. "Snapping" out of it isn't exactly a simple step at that point. -
I was a dick to him because he is a helpless romantic when it comes to the "wonderful and glorious enforcer". He brags about things that everyone agreed upon in the first place, and then points fingers at all of those who "doubted" him even though there wasn't much that was disagreed upon in the first place. Just like the whole "I was right about Miller getting ice time." Okay and? Does that make you super poster man or something? So no, this "gloating" is absolutely ludicrous and childish. This here sums up my opinion on the subject, and doesn't surprise me in the least that ESAD ignored it.

You are right. Which doctor does he need?

Those are the kind of fights I like. Boll takes runs at star players so May says "umm what do you think you are doing?" Janik gets rocked by another guy, doesn't like it, so he has a go himself. Good stuff.
-
They should. Pretty sure that's what guys did back in 97 and 98.
-
I wouldn't consider May being Detroit's MVP a good thing. And once again, everyone is aware that May is busting his ass and putting a consistent effort out there. That isn't the issue.

My response was sarcastic.

Basically. He is pretty much a stay-at-home defenseman now. -
12/28 GDT: Red Wings 0 at Blue Jackets 1 (OT)
Doc Holliday replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
The silver lining in this game is that Howard is looking like he will be able to steal games for this team when the going gets tough on offense. The problem is that Howard's job is not to steal games. His job is to provide competent goaltending and let in on average two goals a game. Same with Osgood. It is going to be unreasonable to force these goaltenders to steal virtually every game from here on out simply because certain players can't pick up the slack on offense. When is the last time someone other than Bertuzzi scored a goal? Four games ago? -

Modin is way too valuable for the Jackets to trade away. -
For 1.5 million it does.
