If I recall Brunnstrom chose Dallas.

Oh no, a multi-millionaire isn't going to play in the olympics after winning a gold already and winning the cup. I'm sure you will live, Mikael.

Okay but isn't Ritola supposed to have a higher ceiling than Abdelkader? Isn't Ritola's job supposed to be closer to Leino's than Abs' is?

He didn't have a great game last night. Not bad, but not great either.

12/26 GDT: Blue Jackets 1 at Todd Bertuzzi 2
Doc Holliday replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Filpulla has gotten much bigger since his rookie year. It's a shame that he broke his wrist or he would probably be looking much stronger and be a real force out there right now. -
Well Leino is better talent-wise than Newbury. But the problem is Leino is worthless when he shys away from physical contact and doesn't do much of anything.

Yeah I guess we can consider the second worst team in the conference and the best team in the conference the same level, right? How could we get shut out by Chicago when we were able to beat the Jackets 9-1 and 2-1 tonight?! What is with these guys!!? -

Maybe if he gets some starts against quality teams. That is not likely to happen as I assume that Osgood will get most, if not all, the top 10 starts while Howard will play against the rest of the NHL. -

Would you take Ilya Kovalchuk if Lidstrom retires?
Doc Holliday replied to Miller Brew's topic in General
Well it would help if all of Detroit's superstars weren't either injured or in a slump. Right now just about anything is an upgrade (regarding depth vs. starpower). Most of Detroit's depth is injured and the star players aren't playing the way they need to. -
We Should Have Gooned it Up These Last Two Games

You don't know what Brown was thinking during that play. Hudler was turning with the puck and let it go with very little time. There is such a thing as "finishing a hit" and there is a reason for it. -

He doesn't send May out for "staged fights." He sends May out there to play the role of a fourth liner who fights on occassion. May makes his own decisions on how and when he fights. -

That isn't "gooning" it up, though. Brown's hit was legal. It was a legal play that you can possibly get no matter where you are on the ice and at any stage in any game, rival or not. -

There isn't always a magical way to boost team morale and confidence in the team. -

I was about to blast you for putting in players who didn't hardly play in the 2000s but then I read 90s.

Doc Holliday replied to Miller Brew's topic in General
You aren't going to find a defenseman like Lidstrom on the market, so why not make up for his absence with an offensive machine? And if Kovi is actually asking for the max contract he can go f*** himself as far as I'm concerned. He isn't worth more than the big three, let alone that much more. -
Report: Jeff Carter has affair w/ Scott Hartnell's wife
Doc Holliday replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
He will probably do one of two things: 1. Throw his glove at Carter and shoot the puck himself. 2. Pass the puck but forgetting that Carter had the affair jump at him and bite him repeatedly. -
Detroit doesn't have the skill right now. It is pretty much a bunch of role guys being plugged into scoring roles and it just doesn't work against the top tier lines that other teams have. With a 4 on 4 the Hawks had more space to make things happen, while for the Wings they had more ground to cover because they didn't have another guy. A four on four situation gives an advantage to the more skilled teams. Indeed. They were able to provide pressure without much to show for it (such as the same pressure a grind line would provide) and the Hawks just endured and waited for a good opportunity. Right now Detroit needs to beat every single team they have a shot at beating, and at least try to play 500 hockey till they get back. Franzen probably won't be back until the playoffs so I expect Holland to try a deal at the trade deadline (assuming the Wings are in a playoff spot). Thanks for the input and glad to see a rival fan with an unbiased perspective.

Doc Holliday replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Yes. I don't see that as a fault on Babcock, because it isn't Babcock who is throwing the punches and trying to stand up for himself out there. And I don't think a coach should have to tell players to stand up for themselves at that level. -
Fair point.

I'm glad we aren't using a single goal to overrate a player's impact in the game.

It does matter because that fight sparked the Wings FOR THAT GAME. The win sparked them for the rest of the season and the playoffs.
