Have you lost confidence in certain players?

No. Osgood has played much better this season than last.

GMR, make no mistake I have no problemt with enforcers in the lineup and am always happy to see blue collar grinders punching the snot out of the opposition. My discussions with you, ESAD, Micah, and UK (among others) directly relate to necessity of the "enforcer" being in the lineup. I am ALWAYS entertained by fights and tough hockey and look to see more of it especially when the team is getting played like they were tonight.

You stole my idea from the GDT. I outta sue you.

I'm sure Babock wouldn't mind May be a little more tenacious when it comes to his elbows and such. All that needs to be done is some s*** so the Wings have something to remember for next game. Keeps the blood boiling till Wednseday. Doesn't have to be a two hander to the face.

I'd also like to point out I'm upset that there was no goonery involved towards the end of the third. I like watching guys like May for their ******* s*** up, and when your team gets shallacked by arguably their biggest rival I expect an elbow or two. Come on, Brad. Sorry, meant Newbury. Also was it Lebda who put out that pass to Byfooglien in the third?

Pretty bad game overall. Offense brought nothing tonight. Osgood's second period was just brutal. May and Tardif both with dumb plays in front of the net. Abdelkader with a nice hit on Kane though. Defense was mundane but has been worse. Overall the game was pretty bad to watch. Also the Hawks fans should change their chant to "Grand Rapids sucks!" since that seems to be more accurate right now. Looking forward to a much better effort Wednesday.

This is incredibly reidiculous. Osgood's start was with teams like Chicago and Washington (don't forget his shutout in Boston later in the season) and he let in a single goal in each of them, while pretty much standing on his head both of those games. Osgood and Hasek SPLIT games when Hasek was on the team. He didn't play a "handful". Osgood as an emotionally weak goaltender is ridiculous. Osgood has never had a losing season. Osgood has also never missed the playoffs in his career. He also has two Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe worthy performance last year and even won a few games with the Isles and Blues. But hey whatever floats your boat. This has been a bad game, but he had been playing much better this season than last. It would help if he wasn't on the bench for almost a month sitting around while his old bones rust. He needs to play at least marginally in order to keep on his game. He is older and a much smaller goaltender, so he is at a much bigger disadvantage when it comes to age and positioning. Enough of the haterade. Just stating the facts. Not my fault you don't like them.

Normally when he lets in a five hole goal it looks different than that. He seemed to be struggling to get into butterfly position on that play (it bounced of both of his pads and in).

He has been sitting for a month. Those look like rusty goals to let in. Soft, but rusty.

I think I already discussed the fact that Howard has started against one playoff team so far this year. Osgood is not having a good game at all, but at the same time 10 shots isn't going to win you any games no matter who is in net.

A Goon lineup is my christmas wish this yea.

May was on the ice was he not? He was being looked at was he not? Sure it's possible, but it just doesn't happen. Well that sounds pretty crazy. Just about every single characteristic to define why an enforcer is needed on the team is subjective, and seems to be given as a reason that proves enforcers are needed. I'm talking about the enforcer slappy crowd in general. Perhaps they have not all explicitly stated that both are idiots, but I'm sure you could find some quotes that bash the coaching and management last year for not having an enforcer in the lineup. And UK: Funny you mention that when a team without any tough guy whatsoever made it to game seven of the finals last year. Strange.

Great hit. Enjoyed seeing the pile-up afterwards too.

Franzen scored a goal in that game with a torn ACL.

We have been over this. When a authority contradicts himself from one year to the next it is not reputable when discussing a specific issue. Babcock said enforcers were beneficial in 08, then not in 09, now for 10 he is going to say they are. It is directly related to whether or not an enforcer is on the ice or part of the team, and when you have a guy who is as much of a workhorse as May is Babcock is going to say nice things about him to keep him on the team and on the active roster. Out of curiosity what are the chances that Brad May is going to be out on the ice at the same time that Corey Perry is in any given night? If an enforcer fights another enforcer, it just means that he tends to fight other enforcers, and that has been the case this year. Whoopdy freaking doo. I bet guys like Perry are shaking in their boots to think that a guy like Laraque or May is going to fight George Parros the punching bag. If you think people didn't know who Brad May was before that fight against Tampa then you are delusional. Honestly, you mean to tell me Brad May needs to build up his reputation every night so players don't "forget" that he is out there? How many subjective characteristics are you going to give to substantiate the necessity of an enforcer this season? But of course, now that Holland and Babs have some tough guys in the lineup they are geniuses and know the sport of hockey. The second there isn't one they will once again be labeled as idiots and proponents of soft hockey. Just wonderful.

Expect Hawks To Bring Their "A" Game

Detroit beat Chicago with a healthy lineup 2-1 already. The fact that Detroit is missing 8 players makes this almost a cake-walk for the Hawks.

Wings on pace for 105 points with a $33 million roster...

It is surprising how well these guys have been playing. Time will tell, however, if this is simply guys playing out of their minds or if this is actually the kind of team that can play like this for and 82 game season. Referees were unbelievable with stuffing the whistles tonight.

Too bad you missed the part where your question doesn't say anything about Howard's talent, just that if your goaltender plays more games than the other, he has a chance to win more points. Well no s***.

Good one. Too bad I'm at least rational about it unlike yourself. Howard was out of position tonight, way too aggressive to the shooter, and did not play the last goal well at all. He at least kept his team in it by stopping the Ribeiro breakaway, but at the same time he did not put Detroit in a good spot to win it. The times he let in each of those goals was backbreaking for Detroit. Enough with the "rookie" comment. Howard is a rookie and is playing like a competent veteran backup goaltender (save tonight). Leino has looked soft and worthless all season, up to the point where it looks like he isn't even trying on multiple plays. He has had a horrible season and "rookie" doesn't make up for that. He has been that bad.

Howard can earn the most points because he is playing against five teams while Osgood is only playing against one.

Detroit should be able to win with 3 goals on the board. Howard did not play well tonight, and it cost Detroit a point. Bertuzzi and Datsyuk were amazing tonight. Homer and Helm did very very well as well. Defense was awful (Rafalski shooting at Morrow in those final seconds was inexcusable). All in all, would have been a W if a couple specific players had picked up the slack. Also would have been a different game if Ott's charge was called and kept that play from leading up to a goal.

Stealing games? Really? And Pucks, do you even understand what you are saying? You believe having a "struggling" Osgood start against all the better teams with the better offense will help him play better? Based on what?
