It's cute how Leafs management has to make excuses for the poll. "Oh, they are just dumb." "Oh, it just means they don't like to play against him." And the media spin in Toronto continues.
-
Columbus might not like what Detroit offers or will want too much. Tada.
-
Detroit is letting St. Louis and Chicago take a spot in the Central, when this team has all the talent to run away with it. Babcock needs to adapt his game plan and Holland needs to add talent that is willing to work hard enough to score goals even when it isn't easy.
-
Guess I didn't miss much. Yikes.
-
I'm sorry, but when you break someone's legs with your stick, you are most definitely a dirty player.
-
You'll be hard pressed to find people who don't think fighters have any value to an organization. I've always thought the gigantic debates were either about straight up enforcers, or how much value you can attribute success to fighting and physicality.

His explanation makes sense. Not a huge deal.

1/8 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 2 (OT)
Doc Holliday replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
You know you are soft when Johan Franzen punches you out. -
For comparison purposes I would like to know how big of a difference that is between him and other players.
-
I think the Perry and Franzen comparisons are stupid considering we all know Perry is a much better player. And younger. And more entertaining.
-
I like how you waited three minutes before assuming I was too afraid to respond. I had originally thought it was 8 goals when the game was tied, but I must have misread that. Either way, you disregarded the rest of my post to argue a minute point. Bad form.
-
You have lost it. And half of them have come when the game is tied. SUPER CLUTCH! Yeah, and we have to pay him a whole 4 million a season. Everyone run for the hills, because we won't be able to improve the team or trade him like ever. It only took a year for Franzen to turn from "the most clutch player next to Zetterberg" to "the least clutch player on the team". I'm not even saying Franzen has been up to par this season. But you are just getting ridiculous. The guy is struggling but still able to have more goals than anyone else on the team. Temper the over the top hate.

Which cheap shots have caused the Wings to be "hurting" in the playoffs? You guys are looking for grit in the wrong places. The team as a whole needs to allow for a grittier offensive mindset because they do not have the talent they had on that cup winning team. They have to be able to grind out wins and push back as much as they get pushed if they want to make a serious run at the cup. The team's problems at grit would be pretty much non-existent if they could do that. Right now they can't. Someone to keep the flies off isn't a be all end all for the success of this hockey team, just like it wasn't in 2008. That team was talented, but could crash and bang when it needed to. Two wrongs don't make a right, pal.

It's too bad that this is what enforcer debates have been reduced to: ripping the posters who oppose your viewpoints instead of actually entering reasonable discourse. On both sides.
-
You mean like the one time he did that this season?
-
It is funny how he gets ripped for that when he still has been leading the team in goals (and tied for second in points). What does that say about the rest of the team when the inconsistent Franzen continues to lead in that category despite his poor recent play?
-
Don Cherry is cute.
-
Oh geez.
-
If it helps, my team went down 4-0 in the first period last night. So it could be worse.
-
Thankfully this Brian Burke team can't handle a playoff position either.
-
Terrible defensive play tonight. Two stupid penalties and lack of coverage on the third. Ridiculous.
-
Depends on what would mean by "certain way".
-
I'm not sold on Getzlaf as something this team would seriously improve on. If we got rid of Franzen we would still need a guy who is a threat to score goals. Perry is a bonafide goal scorer and can definitely bring something huge to the team if we trade a core player. I don't care if he is a ******. He can be our ******. And I'll even trade my Franzen shirts for Perry shirts if we make a trade with the two involved. Gowings: Datsyuk and Zetterberg shouldn't be tried again. They don't mesh the same way they did in 08 and 09, and I think it hurts the team to force them back together for the sake of acquired players.

Henrik Sedin's Comments on Vancouver's Toughness
Doc Holliday replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
The seven game series where they keeled over for four of those games. The Sedin punching bag situation simply highlighted that. The Red Wings haven't done anything comparable. Detroit needs more grit, but the only real "diver" and "disgrace" they have in the grit department is Franzen. The Sedins and Kesler are the poster children for gutless play. -
It's a pretty standard reaction to good events or news. I've never gotten excited about something then instinctively saluted the sky. Either way, I don't care about celebrations as long as they don't turn into ridiculous dance routines like they have in the NFL.
