For starters, Boston was playing catchup the whole game. Teams that play catchup normally get more chances, and when you have a strong aggressive forecheck like Boston you are going to make things happen more often. Second, if not for an unforced turnover by Howard, we probably aren't having this conversation. Third, are you saying the Datsyuk like wasn't dominant today? Also, the San Jose line is pretty rich since we took them to 7 games last year. And the team still has cap space and time to improve and add another player. Woe is this team.

Just read Datsyuk's quote regarding the matchup. It seems like there is a lot of respect there, that wasn't in the Vancouver series for good reason.

It doesn't hurt to have your star player come back after 11 months against a 21 year old rookie tender, and one of the worst teams in the league. It was amazing how he played last night, but you gotta be a bit realistic when you think about how he will play for the rest of the season. He's not going to get 2-4 points every night. He's not going to score every night. He's going to have some off games. That's hockey.

I'd still take Jiri Hudler over Golden Boy.

Richards was the only free agent worth signing for more than 6 million, and even then nobody expected that we would have two elite forwards who wouldn't be producing anything. Hell, we could have signed three tough second line players with the cap space we have.

What does the Ericsson signing have to do with signing a good forward? We have how much cap space?
