Lidstrom on Jim Rome radio show this morning

I guarantee you that as long as Lidstrom is on the Wings and under 50, he will not "sit" a game in the National Hockey League.

    What a travesty, amirite?
  4. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=34128 Coming from Eklund, but it was confirmed by the CSN Bay Area. *EDIT* It is $15.2 Mil. $3.8 mil cap hit. Could a mod change that up? http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=6170332&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines

    I've decided-Datsyuk for Captain

Zetterberg singlehandedly handed the most hated player of LGW his own ass. There should be no question who should get it here.

Wings sign Howard to 2-year, $4.5M extension

Howard has not been stealing games all year. He hasn't been stealing games hardly at all. He hasn't been bad, but lets not overrate Howard here. Niemi won a cup with a stacked roster just like Osgood did twice, and I'm sure we would take Ozzie in his prime over Howard. Niemi is getting overpaid based on a season of performance but right now he is a better goaltender.

2/28 GDT: Red Wings 7 at Kings 4

No team is going to be playing hard in a 7-1 blowout in the playoffs.

2/28 GDT: Red Wings 7 at Kings 4

In all honesty, do you want them to go balls to the walls for 60 minutes when they really don't have to? The Kings decided to play when the Wings stopped caring, so obviously they were able to find ways to score. It's not a huge deal.

Wings sign Howard to 2-year, $4.5M extension

When Howard wins his first cup as a starter I'll start thinking about comparing the two.

2/28 GDT: Red Wings 7 at Kings 4

Detroit is not going to be firing on all cylinders in a 7-1 game during an 82 game season. The Kings scored three goals when the game was already lost. The only negative is it leaves a bit of a sour taste in your mouth after a solid win. Whoop dee freakin doo.

Wings sign Howard to 2-year, $4.5M extension

This could either be a massive steal if Howard gets better or a decent deal if Howard stays pat. Strange they didn't wait till after the playoffs but hey, it's a good deal. Atta boy Holland.

    Kris Letang

Most defensemen are not going to do as well without 70% of their offense, or somesuch. Letang is still a top 3 Norris candidate, but that is more of a testament to how weak the Norris race is this year.

    Teams' third jerseys

Classic? The Sabres have never worn a jersey like that in their existence. They are possibly the worst thirds of the season.

    Teams' third jerseys

Detroit is one of the biggest cash cows of the league because of their fanbase, so from a marketing standpoint it is a no brainer to showcase the thirds when Wings fans are watching.

Jeez Huds got an unlucky break on that fivehole shot.

Red Wings Won't be Active at Trade Deadline

People sure as hell act like it. Hudler sure has been playing up to his salary lately. Modano dealt with an unfortunate injury as well, so I'm not sure why having those players in the lineup would frustrate people.

    Pens new alternate captain

I swear I think Cooke is getting more media attention these days than Crosby did when he was healthy.

Red Wings Won't be Active at Trade Deadline

And won the cup without a deadline deal. Point being, a team isn't required to change assets at the deadline to be a player in the post-season. Regular season complacency in February isn't a new thing in Detroit. If Holland thought there was a move that would make this team better, he would do it. There are a couple guys that would be nice to have but they may not even be available or had at the right price to come to Detroit. Either way, one or two deals isn't going to shake up the team.

    Green leveled

It is not relevant when we ask whether Stepan was at fault for the hit or not. Personally I couldn't care less if Green didn't have the best judgement. He was hit by an avoidable, dirty hit to the head. And he was fined. The biggest factor was he was a first time offender and possibly because of Green's previous offense that wasn't called on the ice. Either way, it was not a clean hit. Strange, I am not surprised at all you didn't understand why I cited the Bertuzzi/Moore instance. Hint: It had nothing to do with whether they could see their attackers or not.

Red Wings Won't be Active at Trade Deadline

Yes, because not winning the cup means you must make a trade at the deadline to do anything in the post season. Who did the Blackhawks acquire last season at the deadline?
  24. Doc Holliday

    Conklin

I think he played for the St. Lous Bues? Seriously though, he is a solid backup (even if he is struggling this season with St. Louis), and could really help Howard with the work load. Not sure how that would affect Detroit's cap but Holland will likely at least take a look and see if he wants to pick him up.

    Green leveled

Not a clean hit. The point has been missed once again. Talk about over analyzation. So because Green wasn't "protecting himself" he is at fault for getting hit with a cheap shot. Perhaps Moore was at fault for not trying to protect himself when Bertuzzi took a swing at his head from behind? I mean, he felt Bert grab the jersey and didn't even react. Stepan had the opportunity to get him square in the shoulder and he completely missed. The head for the principal point of contact. He missed the shoulder and took an upward elbow towards Green's head.
