A veteran enforcer isn't going to have stunted development by sitting most of any game in the NHL. A young prospect will. Also to say those in my position say they wouldn't make any bit of difference, I would like to point you to the straw man you have built up.

I'm not going to go easy on a player just because they are supposed to be in the AHL. Isn't he supposed to be an NHL player someday? He's going to have to know how to stay with his man. Also, Versteeg is a punk. -

Not at all. Poor play by Lashoff and terrible backchecking by Miller. Could have been up or at least tied in this game if not for those plays. -

Because being soft or not only has to do with the amount of staged fights they get? Thank you for putting the time to list the "enforcers" on each team, though. Took an extra look and learned something about those guys.

Talk about a gigantic Maple Leaf circle jerk. I'm hoping they do one for each of the teams, cause it is a pretty neat concept and the ones I've seen I have liked (except this one).

I'm not saying they are "obsolete" in today's NHL. I'm simply saying their role is hardly as much of a necessity as it used to be. Remember that whole instigator rule they put in place? Also, still waiting on the pure enforcer from every team. Would be great.

Yay, argument from majority. Can you name me each pure enforcer on all of the 30 teams in the league? Just because the role of the enforcer has stayed the same doesn't mean the game itself hasn't changed.

If you remove the post and warn the poster then you don't have to go on your little "grr I hate politics in general discussion" tirade. I'd rather people not ***** about people breaking the rules and instead use the report function like they are supposed to. And to compare using the report function as "running to mommy and daddy to tell on someone" is ridiculously juvenile.

That implies there are a good number attempted cheapshots that they avoid. Once again, simply ridiculous, and is the same concept that I argued against in the post you quoted. GMR: I've never said that enforcers were a vital part of the team, even when guys like May were on the team.
