They didn't tank. They were just bad. And Crosby was drafted by a pick that all 30 teams had an equal chance to get. Point is: The draft is the best way for teams to rebuild. Argue about the salary cap causing false parity all you want, but it would be ridiculous to think the league would be better off by giving lottery picks to the top teams in the league. Those teams are already rewarded by, you know, winning and having success.
-
Yeah, and I wish every player on the team signed for less than 4 million. A 2 million dollar cap hit for a guy who will be entering his prime as an amazing bottom sixer is a good deal. Hell, you should be calling it as steal considering he makes half as much as Johan Franzen.
-
I'm aware, but that still doesn't clarify his point for me. Because if he is saying what I think he is saying, I would say his response is a bit short-sighted.

What point are you trying to make here?

Bill Maher Tweet. Dustin Penner Twitter Response. -
Why don't you describe what is going on in the opening post instead of saying "Hey, here is a link, click it and take my word for what is on it"? 25 minute mark has talking about LA rioting (or lack therof) after their cup win. Nothing about Zach Parise. 27 minute mark talking about crowds and random crap. Head coach for LA going to stay? Who knows in this radio broadcast. 28 Phil Jackson talk. Radio host says "Let's leave Parise aside for the time being". So 3 minutes after you say we should start listening they discuss Parise only to say that they aren't going to talk about it yet? Jeez, man. 30 minutes in: Leopold says nobody is going to outbid the Wild. So if Parise is going anywhere, it is for less money. The guy just assumes that Parise isn't going to be here simply because the Wild's GM is going to throw as much money as he can at him. Implying Holland can't afford to do that as well. Not bad news, just more of what we assumed would happen.

Now this begs the question: Does the exec just believe he will make the trade, or is there some actual information that would imply he will make the trade? Because if it is the former, then this is purely speculation.

This is looking bad.
-
Not really. You sign a high profile forward and that changes the makeup of the team completely. And the Wings have the space to do that and put Hudler on the 3rd line. A big reason why Hudler won't be signing here.
-
As long as we add some offensive contributors I won't mind. Hudler is a slow, short, weak forward, but he at least was able to score at a good clip, and losing him to free agency isn't exactly a net gain at this point.

Yzerman didn't have to wait a year, why should Lidstrom?
-
No public sale of tickets? Man I hope my Aunt's firm can manage to grab a set with their season ticket plan so I can buy it off them. Otherwise I'll be completely screwed and majorly pissed.
-
So you expect Laich to just be bumped up to the first line and score 30 goals off the cuff?
-
1. Why does it have to be a tough guy? 2. Where were you when McCarty went and suckered Lemieux in 1997?
-
You mean like this? The Red Wings weren't angels back in the day. If they go back to that tough, rough, slightly dirty game, I'll be fine with it. I enjoy new types of Wings teams.
-
Franzen is just an easy scapegoat because of his effort and contract length. It is what it is and the hate will die down if we get a Parise to take the load off the guy.

Vokoun moved to Pittsburgh for a 7th Round pick.
Doc Holliday replied to Diluvian04's topic in General
Why would Washington trade him to a rival for such a low pick? I didn't think Vokoun played all that badly for the Caps. -
Nicklas, Motherf***ing Lidstrom!

Kopitar has filthy hands, man. This entire season has been completely unfathomable. -
The only thing sad is your consistent attempt to bring out the doom and gloom about this team on this board.

Gaborik for Franzen straight up? -
Your point being?
-
What makes you think he deserves to be low balled? For f***s sake, the guy has earned twice his salary over his career. Don't get on him for not taking a ridiculous pay cut just because you want it.

This entire season has been absolutely screwy. On every level. -
I personally don't believe that, but to each his own.
