#8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes

The justice system works the same way. -
Sounds enough of a biggie for you to whine and complain about getting negs and thinking karma applies. It's an arbitrary indicator. People on this board need to nut up and get over it.
-
No, how bout you take some notes, sir. The Coyotes knew that Bryz wanted money above all else so they went with a cheaper option and traded him away for scraps. The Predators don't know if Suter will sign with them because Suter is looking for a contender first and foremost (he turned down a lucrative contract offer this season) and if the Predators are going to take themselves out of a month of one on one negotiation with him they are going to ask for a lot more. I don't think even Suter is going to warrant a high asking price as a UFA.

Free agency comes after the draft. It would be next year's first rounder. Yeah, because it's not like we need offense or anything. By the way, he is capable at defense. Not great, but he isn't as bad as you assume. But gaudy offensive numbers mean poor defensive play amirite? Nobody is going to bite on trading assets away from a player who could just as easily sign back with the Predators once free agency starts.

Someone has an axe to grind.

Oh no, the fourth most valuable team in the league is paying a player 1 million dollars more than what his cap hit is listed as. What will Ilitch do?
-
I'm partial to the original 30, myself.
-
First, unless Lidstrom signs a 12 million dollar contract, he won't affect who we end up signing. Second, if Lidstrom retires and Holland sends offers to both Suter and Parise, what happens if we don't get either?

#6 New Jersey Devils vs. #5 Philadelphia Flyers
Doc Holliday replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I don't see Jersey getting past the Rangers. They are too good top to bottom. Their only downside is they don't have a top-tier defender, but that is offset by the fact their team defense is incredible (arguably unmatched) and they have Lundqvist in net. Besides, nobody lower than the 5th seed has ever won a cup before, and Phoenix will probably be knocked out by LA so.... -

Yeah it is probably going to be the most brutal one of them all. Good luck with New York. -
That was a panic move made in house to make sure Ericsson didn't make it to free agency and so he wouldn't lose a young defenseman for nothing. Besides, I don't think that he has been that overpaid based on how he played this season.

Better safe than sorry. -
It's too bad we already did the Blackhawks' Eulogy so we can't take this one on. So many good jokes to be had with the St. Louis sweep.

#8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #2 St. Louis Blues

Everything is happening!!! Seriously. 8-1 against the 1 and 2 seeds in the conference? As an 8th seed? Has this ever happened in the history of professional sports? -
#4 Nashville Predators vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes
Doc Holliday replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Nashville knew our game to a science and adapted to it, but tried that same plan against Phoenix. They chose to forget that Detroit was a severely flawed team and Phoenix plays a more crash and bang style which obliterates the "shell and transition" game Nashville implemented. -
I sincerely doubt that. And even if they don't nab those two, they still have cap space to improve the roster in other ways. They are the ideal situation, but it isn't over if either or both of those two come here.
-
You are way over exaggerating. Most teams can't spend as much and ice a full roster of players, not to mention stay competitive. Also, no way Parise and Suter command that much in free agency.
-
This is why nobody cant take you seriously. You are making it seem like people wanting to get Suter and/or Parise is them assuming they are going to come here because it is simply Detroit. Nobody believes that. And last time I checked, the Wings CAN offer more money than anyone else without hurting their roster. They have a lot of room to retool and make themselves better.
-
Nobody is calling for a dynasty. They are saying Detroit is still a place players want to play (The last poll put them just a hair under 1st place Chicago under teams players would most want to play for) andwith the amount of cap space Detroit has to work with they can overpay for guys like Parise and even try to entice them with a package deal for the two of them. Not to mention adding some more gritty players and the team that would have been 4th in the conference (if not for St. Louis surprising everyone they would have been in first) if not for key injuries at the worst times will turn into a team that is back to a contender again. You don't know how good Detroit's younger players are going to be until they get to that level. We have yet to see how much of an impact guys like Smith, Tatar, Nyquist, and others will be until they mature on the Wings roster. Did the same thing to Fil, Franner, Zets, Dats, and Huddles.
-
No, you are being pessimistic. If Detroit can ink Parise and/or Suter to a long term deal they will be able to retool their roster and add players to keep themselves competitive. Your notion that the Red Wings aren't even close to being a cup team is absurd.
-
No, you aren't expecting anything this summer based on what you posted. And that right there is silly.
-
We add one top 6 player and we are back in Stanley Cup contention. You are way too pessimistic about the Wings 2-3 years down the road when there will be a lot of chances to make changes to the roster. This year especially.
-
How do you think a front-loaded long term deal works?
-
I addressed your post. You may not agree with the response but it did address what you said.
