The Wings get me nervous when they start casually dominating a game like this. Many times they give up a goal on a sloppy play and give the other team life and it turns around.

I have to wonder about all this focus on Hasek. The rest of the team is not looking too organized. He obviously does have to make saves, but some goals would help our cause as well. He isn't the lone reason we're losing this game.

We need to get organized in this game. We haven't any sustained pressure to speak of, not even on the PP since that first goal.

I was thinkin that very thing, but they aren't getting much done anyway.

I don't know why it has to be Hasek bashing. Osgood is tending better goal and has all year so far. There is merit to the argument that our D has kept his action to a minimum, but on the other hand he's come up big when we needed him and hasn't given up many soft goals. I hate to say it, but I find myself agreeing with somebody who said that it appears that age is catching up with Dom. That doesn't mean he blows or won't up his play as the year progresses, but he just doesn't seem the same while Osgood is playing at the top of his game. A game better than the one he brought to a championship run in 98 in my opinion. Osgood might not be able to carry a team, but given good company he shines and is showing that. I say until given a good reason why change. The ol "if it ain't broke" thing.

Melrose has been a fair weather friend to the Wings for a long time. Except Stevie. I remember leading up the 98 playoffs how he was proclaiming the impossibility of a Detroit repeat until the conference semi finals when he started to change his tune and by the finals he was a bonafide fan again predicting us for the cup. As for Osgood. I've always loved the guy and used to lament the way he was beat up in the press in this town. Anybody remember that shot of him on the cover of the Freep where they caught him with a facial expression looking like a complete dunce after that center ice Langenbrunner goal in OT in the playoffs? People remember that more than they do the fact that he screwed his head back on and shut them out the next game. Ozzie's strength is his mental toughness and unwillingness to let circumstances get in his head. In other words everything Legace isn't as much I also loved Manny. Osgood stiffens under intense professional pressure. Something Legace to this point hasn't been able to manage.

If that's the case then that is REALLY poor. I wasn't paying attention to the crowd due to yelling at the TV and being concerned about Homer at the time. The LA Times piece even did chide the fans for their bloodthirstiness.
