Correct, Tatar is no longer waiver exempt. The only 2 players that were supposed to be on the roster that still are exempt are Nyquist, who has all of 2 games left in the NHL before his expires, and DeKeyser.

Having just signed a 3 year extension in June, I really don't see Miller going anywhere.

Rookie you're most looking forward to watching this season
ogreslayer replied to Jaymister's topic in General
I'm still looking forward to seeing Tatar play the bulk of the season. Whether it will be for the Wings though, who knows. -
Doubt seriously that Tatar would be waived as he's sure to be claimed & the Wings would lose him for nothing. If anything happens to Tatar, other than making the roster, he'll be traded for a prospect(s) and/or pick(s). I do think btw, that there is actually a good chance Nyquist starts the season in GR now, no joke.

Report: Cleary to sign with PHI, 3 yrs, $2.75m/yr, NTC

And somewhere right now in Switzerland, Damian Brunner is silently scolding himself for not falling down on the ice more last season. -
I wouldn't make that a definite no. From the looks of the training camp roster, Tatar was going to be fighting for time on the 4th line. With Helm on IR, looks like the prefered 3rd line is Gus-Andy-Bert with Miller-Emmerton-Sammy/Eaves/Tootoo/Tatar on the 4th depending on who is left when everything shakes out. Add Cleary into that mix now too.

So does this mean a once in a lifetime opportunity where Flyers fans give a standing ovation to a visiting player who never played for their team in his career when the Wings play in their building this season? -

While the Wings still have plenty of room to sign him now since they can go over the cap in pre-season, I still think there has to be a trade on the way very soon. Just hope this move doesn't cost the Wings one of their more valuable assets, yes like a Tatar who holds much more trade value than a Bert, Sammy, Eaves, or Tootoo. -

From here on out, this is what I'm going to picture when Cleary is referred to as Bear: -

Pulling a no show makes me think he's close to signing a contract, and non-PTO at that, to come back to the Wings. I'm to the point where I don't care what he does, I just want it over. -
The latest on Brunner: Nicola Berger@BergerNeueLZ Breaking: Damien Brunner won't play for #EVZ. Informed team this morning and said he won't risk injury because he's negotiating w/ NHL team.
-
I'm calling it right now. The most impressive, hardest working line in camp will end up being Jurco-Sheahan-Tatar if they stay together for the majority.

Kadri, Maple Leafs agree to two-year deal.

Interesting comment from Dreger tonight: Darren Dreger@DarrenDreger Some offer sheet speculation on Cody Franson. Anything above $3.3 mil pretty sure Tor would take the 1rst rnd pick. Anything under...match. -
How is playing on what's going to be the 2nd line on Team Lindsay mean that he's done something to piss Babs off? Edit: Full roster/pairings here http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/3203965/Camp_Lines.jpg As you can see, there's only 1 training camp team that has two current NHL roster centers in their line-up, being Team Howe w/ Weiss & Emmerton centering the top two lines.

The Wings are a little over $600k above the cap right now & can exceed it by another ~$5.8m from now until the end of camp. The $4m+ for Pietrangelo would be offset too by the fact that the Blues would want current NHL talent in return. What if in a trade, Kenny includes Franzen & Ericsson. That's $7.2m off the cap right there. Edit: Not that we'll ever find out, but this thread is making me really curious about the talks between Kenny & David Poile about Shea Weber last offseason. Do wonder what the offer Kenny made was & what Nashville wanted in return.
-
I just wonder if Kenny could talk them into taking Sammy's contract on too if he blew them away with an offer.
-
Yes an RFAs rights can be traded. For an example see Kessel, Phil. If Kenny were to try to pull off getting him, I think there would be a better chance it would be in the form of a trade & not an offer sheet. Depending on what was sent back to St Louis, there could be a possibility of fitting him under the cap too.

NHL plans to bring back World Cup of Hockey.

In sort of related news if you missed it today, the AHL announced that the 2014 AHL All Star Classic will be a skills competition & game between a team of AHL all-stars vs. Farjestad BK. http://theahl.com/ahl-farjestad-all-star-p187178 If the NHL wants to spice up the ASG, maybe NHL All-Stars vs. KHL All-Stars in the future? I wouldn't mind seeing that at all. -

Yeah, for some reason I was thinking Cleary would be 25th when added to their current roster when he would actually be 26. Good catch. With Pronger's salary cap hit on the books until he's officially on LTIR this season, the Flyers' cap payroll stands at ~$69.2m which includes deferrable bonuses of $2.8m. Taking that & Pronger's cap hit off the books then puts their hit against the cap at ~$61.4m. Official cap space would be $2,887,907 before adding Cleary. -

Technically, 24 man roster since Pronger is still counted among those 10 d-men & he'll be on LTIR again as soon as the season starts. That also moves them below the cap by ~$2.89m. If Cleary does play his way onto the Flyers' roster, all they'll really need to do is clear up 1 roster spot. -
In addition to how good Athanasiou looked, I'm really stoked hearing how Sheahan & Jurco really stepped into leadership roles with the team. Really looking forward to what those 2 & Pulkkinen can do if they get the opportunity to continue building on the chemistry they developed in TC.

I would seriously doubt they would only go with 6 d-men on the roster. Helm will probably start the season on IR, Emmerton will still be in the line-up, & 1 of Eaves or Tootoo will be dealt/waived. Edit: With neither Emmerton or Lashoff being waiver exempt, I could see Kenny taking a risk on losing Cory depending on how ready Ferraro & Sheahan look in camp. I don't think anyone would claim him though, like Jan Mursak last season, so it's low risk imo. I'm pretty confident though that Lashoff wouldn't make it through unclaimed. With Almquist being really the only d-man in GR on the cusp of being ready for the big team, I really don't see Lashoff being sent down at all. -

At least Cleary still gets to hate the Pens though, so he has that going for him. -
If and when Ken & Mickey retire, I want Pavel & Homer in the booth with Hudler back as the guy between the glass.

At last, our long national nightmare is over. Thank you Paul Holmgren for proving again just how insane you really are. Danny, thanks for all the memories & hard work but I'm glad Kenny came to his senses & didn't match that contract offer.
