Sammy really does need to go but with a NTC & his salary still counting against the cap if sent to the minors, you have to hope the organization can lean on him to waive his NTC. As the roster sits now if Helm's healthy, Emmerton winds up in GR after making it through waivers unclaimed & either Eaves or Tootoo get packaged up with Tatar in a trade, possibly along with Lashoff too. Just my guess on what will happen NOT what I want to happen, which would leave: Z-Pavs-Abby Mule-Weiss-Alfie Sammy-Andy-Gus Bert-Helm-Miller Eaves or Tootoo Kronner-Ericsson DeKeyser-Kindl Smith-Quincey Lashoff (if not traded off) or veteran d-man (either UFA or trade) Howie Monster

On topic, happy enough with today but I'll reserve full judgment until the roster shakes out in camp with trades, waivers, etc. Think the bottom sixers & rookies will be battling it out for spots up until the last minute. Wouldn't be surprised if any of Bert, Sammy, Eaves, Tootoo, Emmerton, or even on an outside chance Miller not making the team. By the same token, I wouldn't be shocked to see Tatar packaged up & traded off either. We'll see come September. Compliance buyouts can only happen I believe starting 48 hours after the SC Finals are over & the start of UFA season. That said, the Wings can still buy Sammy out during the season but it would be a regular buyout meaning he would still count against the salary cap.
