At this point Edzo has crossed over into the comical. The Wings have the 'Hawks completely off their game and all Edzo can do is still constantly praise the 'Hawks. I'm not even mad...that's amazing. It's like he pooped in the refrigerator and ate a whole wheel of cheese.

I thought it was that he wanted to play where his girlfriend is from & the fact that his wife is from there also contributed to his decision. I gotta say that this year's playoffs for me has to be the most relaxing post season I've ever had with the Wings. Their run so far reminds me of that feeling of getting out on the highway in a rundown old beater & just putting the pedal down. You're not sure how it's staying on the road or if/when the wheels might fall off, but the ride is so damn fun that you can't help but lean back, smile, & enjoy it while it lasts.

Even if Helm is healthy at the start of camp, I wouldn't be too surprised to see Andersson stick to centering the 3rd line with Helm on the 4th & Emmerton either kept around as insurance, traded in a package, or sent through waivers. Granted if Kenny gets the top 6 forward he's looking for & re-signs Flip (for a reasonable contract, not $5+m a season) that would make Emmerton even more expendable if Helm's healthy.

No need to screw with the line-up at this point. I would doubt we see the likes of Bert, Sammy, or Tootoo the rest of the way no matter how long that is unless the injury bug strikes.

Plus give him a good defensive minded partner for a while, like a DeKeyser, and he'll look much different vs. having him partnered up with Quincey.

The captain who will lead by example, give you the shirt off his back, his ID out of his wallet so you can go drinking while underage... Nah, I don't see that happening. The next captain of the Wings after Hank retires will be Cleary who will still be playing here in his 40s. If the next captain is already on the roster (and I don't think he is personally) I would give DeKeyser a better chance at the C than Smith.

With those three nominees, MacLean is the obvious choice, followed by MacLean's moustache for 2nd, & the Paul MacLean look alike for 3rd.

Well, that's a little misleading since what you're referring to is his cap hit. He actually signed for $7.9m a year until his contract starts to back dive. To get it to a manageable cap hit, the Blackhawks doubled the number of years at $1m at the back end of his contract that you'll find on Hank's & Mule's (4 vs 2) which takes him until he's 42. Under the new CBA, that might come back & bite them in the ass as they'll have cap consequences now if he retires before the contract is up or they wind up with an ineffective 40+ year old Hossa playing on their 4th line a couple of seasons.

As of now, the Blackhawks have 21 players signed for next year & projected cap space of a little over $2m. There might be a chance if they want any cap flexibility at all & also get rid of the risk of carrying cap hit for him if he retires early under the new CBA.
