Speculation is that his playoff balls have set it a little early which was causing some pinching issues late in last night's game.

Was the entry on your word of the day calendar "decent"? So the MVP for the team this season is only decent & overpaid on his new contract? The guy that's being mentioned in some circles as a dark horse for a Vezina nom this season? I'm going to stop there...

Franzen has definitely gone into beast mode these past few games. Have to wonder with how good he's looking at center whether or not that gives Kenny a little more leverage in negotiating Flip down from the $5m+ he's supposedly looking for on an extension given that they have a new option for 2nd line center if they want Z & Dats together.

Is Cleary secretly on Phoenix's payroll? Maybe he pulls a paycheck under the name Daniel in Detroit & Danny in Phoenix. Trying to single handedly get the 'Yotes back into the game.

The Wings better wake up at intermission. Not really looking like world beaters with their 4 shots on goal.

I miss owners not being able to spend what they want to in order to build their team & not having to hand over money to other owners who can't run their businesses successfully. Edit: Makes more sense that I miss Mr I not being able to spend how much he wants

Which is why I still think the decision to rely on Q, Sammy, Cola, & Tootoo instead of the kids was made i.e. bringing back players that knew the Wings' systems or veterans that would pick up the schemes easily enough versus trying to get the kids up to speed without the benefit of a training camp/pre-season & the usual amount of practice time during the season. Solid reasoning but unfortunately the circumstances changed. On the upside though, the Wings brass knows now that Andersson, Tatar, Nyquist, DeKeyser, & Lashoff are going to be full-time NHLers & all probably starting next season. I'm sure there will be growing pains & we'll still see those plays that continue to give the Wings problems over & over to start the season, but I also think we'll start seeing less & less of those as next season wears on.

I'm still not convinced that Hank is healthy. At the very least that groin problem he had is still lingering.

Got to love the kid's fire. The big club needs more of that.

Something Elliote Friedman just pointed out today that had completely slipped my mind is the Winter Olympics in Sochi. The over saturation might be an attempt by the NHL to attract the casual or non-fan that gets into hockey during the Olympics. Granted Gary will probably screw that up by not allowing NHLers to play in the Olympic Games.

THEY get a Winter Classic! Just when you thought that the greed & stupidity of the NHL front office & owners had hit its nadir... Amazing news. Might just have to bust out my 97-98 playoffs "Believe" t-shirt for the game today. If not for the accident, I think Nick would have had a couple less Norris Trophies to his name & the Wings might have had another Cup or two. Still hope that all of the Russian Five will be on the ice in some way, shape, or form come the alumni games next season.

Given the Wings tendency to crap the bed against teams they should beat, I wouldn't necessarily say they have an advantage. Not until they prove they can bear down & win the games they're supposed to.
