Very true. I wouldn't mind Kenny floating out a 7 year $6-7m contract just to force the Habs to match & screw up their cap situation like Holmgren did with Weber/Nashville.

They normally say that d-men really don't typically fully develop until what, 27 or 28 years of age? Kindl's 25 and an RFA after the season so I think he needs to build on those few flashes he had last season where he looked like that he could hold onto at least a spot on the bottom pairing going forward. He's demonstrated that in fits & starts & I hope he does prove he belongs if he does truly get the chance with all the holes the Wings have on D right now. If not, I think he's looking for a new team this summer while Lashoff secures that spot as the Wings 6/7 next season.

Nobody's suggested that Franzen needs the same MMA training that Huds went through last year yet? How did that slip by? At the very least, the Wings need to keep Homer in the organ-I-zation to help teach the players left how to play with some balls. Call him the Old Balls Coach.

What's being ignored in this thread so far is that Kenny doesn't need to trade for Subban to land him. He's an RFA so technically Kenny could float an offer sheet. It won't happen, but in theory he could. That also comes with the risk that the Habs would match it too and if they didn't, the Wings would lose future draft picks.

The Dive wouldn't even trade Quincey to the Wings without Kenny having to go through a proxy. No way are they going to send Johnson to Detroit.IMO, I think that's one of the issues Kenny faces when trying to trade, especially with Western Conference teams. Too many GMs who think they're rivals to the Wings and/or don't want to help the Wings regardless of whether there's a trade there that could help their team.
