So a 17 year old from Quebec who makes s*** up, including about half of his twitter followers? Sounds about right.
-
But he's the same guy who grew their revenues & got them their cost certainty with the salary cap. If anything, a 3rd lockout & a 3rd "win" for the owners, if fans come back like they did last time, will probably turn into a lifetime contract for the little midget. (No offense to actual little persons here on the boards) Overall, he's done a good job in lining the owners' pockets, players & fans be damned. Sadly, I don't see him going anywhere unless there's a absolute & utter abandoning of the sport if we see another lockout.

...at Grand Rapids or another team when he gets claimed on waivers. As the roster stands now, he's not making the big club. Biggest surprise: Smith ends up on the 1st D pairing before the halfway point of the season.

Unforgettable: Brett Lebda signs with Toronto in 2010, ending his stay in Detroit... http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2010/07/toronto_signs_former_red_wing.html

Are you talking about him "breaking" the Jeff Skinner signing? Um...no. The Canes GM tweeted that "it looks like we are going to be able to get Jeff Skinner tied ip for a number of years" 10 minutes before HockeyyInsiderr "broke" the news. Oh, and the guy who does the Canes' pre-show tweeted about it 1 minute after Rutherford & their play-by-play guy did 5 minutes after. He makes most of his s*** up & his "sources" on things that actually happen appear to be twitter feeds. EDIT: If you want to see the actual timeline, go to Aaron Ward's twitter feed (@aaronward_nhl) and take a look at the pic he tweeted not long after HockeyyInsiderr "broke" the signing.

Trading for Kovy & that contract? No.....just no. And even if NJ would trade him & Kovy would waive his NTC, both very big If's, do you really think including anything short of Datsyuk or Zetterberg in that package would get it done? That's about as realistic as Kenny pulling off a trade for Crosby & Malkin by offering the Pens Emmerton, Kindl, & season's worth of free Little Ceasars. Bottom line, the NHL would step in & take over the team before the Devil's finances were in that much of dire straights where they would have to trade off their current franchise player for pennies on the dollar.
-
That may be true but if there's a group dumb enough to kill part or all of season trying to get their way like a 2 year old, it's the NHL owner group. The PA's already said they would be willing to start the season under the terms of the old CBA while they work out a new one. I have a sneaking suspicion that the owners won't though.

Our Current Defense / What Holland Can Do *merged

Still think Kenny will end up grabbing a UFA on a short-term contract to rotate with Kindl in the 6th spot. Carlo Colaiacovo anyone? Either that or wait for the inevitable lockout, CBA change, & buy-outs to see what hits the market. -
Yup, that's it exactly. The bigger question though is whether or not Homer will be playing in the alumni game imo.

From what I've seen he'll still stay one more year in juniors given his age & the 3 year contract starts the 2013-2014 season.
-
Make that 3 for 3 though I was "this" close to going with The Professor.
-
And the fact that there's only 2 years left on the contract makes it less ridiculous as well. The Flames are now around $3.5m under the current cap & have 8 defensemen under contract. They aren't in a situation where they HAVE to trade Bouwmeester, let alone any defenseman. The reasoning I've seen that they might is that they want their top prospect TJ Brodie up all season & in the lineup as a full timer. If that's the case, they would probably need to dump a d-man but that doesn't mean it will be JBo.

I just have a feeling that the asking price will always go up when it's Holland calling any other gm in the West. What team haven't the Wings faced in the playoffs the past 2 decades that rightly or not would consider the Wings a rival in some respect? Look at what happened with the Quincey trade. According to most reports I saw, Colorado wouldn't even talk to Kenny which is why he had to get a third party involved. Who here would even call the Avalance a major rival any more? After 21 straight years in the playoffs, I just think that the vast majority of teams in the West want a take a chunk out of the Wings even when it comes to trading with them. So Kindl, a 4th liner, & a pick for JBo? I don't think that will get it done at all & if it's going to take a Flip+Nyquist+pick or Flip+Smith+pick package to get him or a Yandle, I for one would lean towards not doing it.

Wings & Yandle twitter-rumors? Believable?

Eklund 2.0 in my opinion. Throw enough s*** at the wall & see what sticks. -
Upset? No. Surprised? Yes. Think the Ilitch family would have to no longer own the team for that to happen? Yes.
-
I'm cool with whatever, with the exception of paying for your new Wings gear.
-
And reports are now that it wasn't just one lone team that made that offer, it's what Doan's actually asking for. $7.5m a year for 4 years for 20 goals/50 points? I think Kenny's making the right call on dropping out of this sweepstakes. Better used for deadline acquisitions if there are any to be had & for re-signing the Wing's own UFAs/RFAs at the end of the season. Hear, hear. I got into the Wings in the late 80's so I really missed the worst of it, but if you want to talk futility & mismanagement...I'm a life-long Cubs fan. If anyone thinks this little blip on the radar this offseason or even the entire Dead Wings era is bad, none of this compares with what us Cubs fans go through year after year after year after year. Kenny missing out on his big targets or not electing to grossly overpay for talent this offseason? That's nothing...

Who is your favorite player from a team besides the Wings?
ogreslayer replied to CaliforniaWingsFan's topic in General
Jiri Hudler for the simple fact that he left -
And then have teams refuse to trade with Tampa because they'll all think he's just a Wing flunky.

Getting stuck in Nashville with their self-imposed salary cap means Weber, while getting paid, takes up a much greater percentage of their cap hit & will be surrounded by much less talent than he would be with a team that spends to the cap obviously. Have to believe that either Nashville plans to change their spending habits (doubtful) or that they do plan on finding a trading partner in one year that can give them more than the 4 #1's they would have gotten if they hadn't matched.
-
No, by officially matching Nashville can't trade Weber for a full year after to anyone, including the Flyers. They could negotiate a change in compensation (in essense trade) with the Flyers & only the Flyers within the 7 day window they had to match or let Weber go for the draft picks. Now that they've matched, it's game over until the year is up. The only incentive that can be worked into an offer sheet is the signing bonus. No trade/no movement clauses can't be included. Think Poile would flip him to Columbus as punishment or would he not send him to a "division rival"? EDIT: People who know the CBA better than I do, clearly, had mentioned that Nashville & Weber can still work out a NTC if both parties want to. Think either will?
