The Official NHL Suspension Thread
ogreslayer replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
The 'Hawks Andrew Shaw gets 3 games for his shoulder hitting Mike Smith's mask as he was trying to squeeze past him behind the net. IMO, incidental contact & he wasn't head hunting. That gets 3 games yet trying to put a player's head through the glass after the final horn warrants nothing but a $2500 fine? Oh NHL, the more you change, the more you stay the same. -
Preds not allowed to play ping pong at Joe Louis Arena
ogreslayer replied to NickA's topic in General
Step 1: Take away ping pong table Step 2: Pelt the Preds during the pre-game warmup with ping pong balls Step 3: Victory! -
Officially called up now the season is over in GR: Joakim Andersson Louis-Marc Aubry Fabian Brunnstrom Francis Pare Tomas Tatar Travis Ehrhardt Garnet Exelby Doug Janik Brian Lashoff Brendan Smith Thomas McCollum Anyone other than possibly Smith see any action?

Nice to see we're all in agreement on that. Off to the next thread then...

Did the pane go for a second hit after not getting a solid one on the first?

WCQF Game 2 GDT : Red Wings 3, at Nashville Predators 2
ogreslayer replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Still don't see how Radulov got away without an unsportsman-like after almost popping a blood vessel on that offside call. Was expecting him to go off & wack the linesman upside the head... -

Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"
ogreslayer replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
I'm sure Weber was simply trying to show Hank just how clean the staff at Bridgestone Arena keeps the glass from a closer angle. -
I have a feeling it has more to do with not knowing how to spell (btw it's Weber, Parise, & Quincey) & posting comments that make it look like you're trying to set a record for negs on a single post.

If no suspension, I guess this sets the bar then huh? So we should expect no suspension when Bert does the same thing to Weber or Suter at the end of game 2 right? Right? Or maybe since the NHL is saying that wrestling moves are OK, maybe Hudler can break out some of that offseason MMA training & get Weber in an omoplata or guillotine choke & see what happens. -
Don't care. I want an arena at least half full of red jerseys & a blowout win in game 1 for the Winged Wheel. Time to send a message boys!

Is he better than 50%?

Dan Cleary openly admits to being at 50%
ogreslayer replied to NBCnothingbutcrosby's topic in General
Come on Babs, you're the same guy that had the balls to pull Hasek for Osgood during a round 1 series. Don't tell me you can't do the same with a 50% Dan Cleary. Well, not pull him for Osgood but when I think about it, maybe even Osgood would be more effective than a 50% Cleary at this point. -
I'm in for... $10/series win: round 1-3 $10/series sweep $10/if series win is over the Sharks or Blackhawks $2/short-handed goal $2/every game with a PPG $5/shutout $9/Gordie Howe Hat Trick (Limit of 1 but x2$ if from Franzen, x3$ from Hudler) $50/winning The Cup $12/if Cup winning goal scored by any of the following: Abdelkader, Cleary, Conner, Emmerton, Helm, Holmstrom, Miller, Mursak, Nyquist, Ericsson, Kindl, Quincey, Smith, or Stuart $15/if Conn Smythe=Johan Franzen $30/if Conn Smythe=Tomas Holmstrom

Personally I'll be disappointed if they don't pick up Parise, Suter, Weber, make a trade for Stamkos, send a hit squad of professional assassins after Crosby, & finally tell the world they've been working on cloning technology which leads to the debut of Gordie Howe 2.0 on Pavel's right wing staring next season. Actually, the thing that would disappoint me is if Lids retires & Kenny announces they are going to follow the Pens & 'Hawks model of rebuilding the organization by sucking for a decade+ to stock up on #1 draft selections.

And that is why Homer still has a job next year if he wants in imo
-
I don't see either one signing for under a $7m/year cap hit if they hit the open market. I could see Suter taking a discount if he stays in Nashville but not anywhere else.
-
If not on the ice, I think a perfect spot for Homer would be as a paid sidekick/chauffeur/personal assistant to convince Lids to come back for at least another year. Maybe he could do stuff like stand in front of & screen reporters so they can't ask questions... I could see that for sure I say that btw as a huge Homer fan. With all he's done for the organization & with all the abuse he's taken year after year, he does deserve to go out on his own terms. I do have a feeling he'll go through the same process that Drapes & Malts got i.e. having to earn a spot with the potential of being sent to GR if he does come back next year.
-
From everything I've seen & heard, most people are saying it's a weak FA class once you get past Suter & Parise. That's why I'm thinking the Wings get neither. You'll have a bunch of other teams willing to overpay them & kill their team's salary cap management in the process and that's not something Kenny's been willing to do in the past. Personally, I think Suter ends up back in Nashville after the team has a good playoff run this year & Parise ends up signing for big money somewhere not named Detroit.
-
I would pay good money to see an entire game of Homer screening Hunwick.
-
Well that's what happens when you bring in someone from RuPaul's Drag Race to sing the National Anthems before a game I guess.

The reason The Wings shipped Mike Commodore
ogreslayer replied to Wing Across The Pond's topic in General
Pretty likely given they did the same thing w/ Abby the year he signed out of State. Granted that was at the end of the season & he started the next down in GR. I could easily see the same thing with DeKeyser. Get him some playing time with the big club by the end of the season if Western doesn't make it into/far into the NCAAs, keep him around as a Black Ace during the playoffs, & have him start off in GR the next season when Lids desides to come back for another run. -
The dreaded groin injury. Probably out Sunday. https://twitter.com/#!/freepwings/status/175809506578669569 Call Nyquist up maybe or will it be Tatar or Conner?
-
Shocked that Janik was sent down to GR over Kindl? If Kindl's sent down, he has to go through waivers, & I would think guaranteed to be claimed by someone. So no, that shouldn't be shocking.
