s*** of fire? Don't they make some type of medication or topical cream to alleviate that? On a serious note, I think it really comes down to the sense of entitlement without having won anything that gets on most other fans' nerves. Or it might just be because Bobby Lou is such an asshat and we're sick of hearing the "Loooooooooou" chants after every routine save.

Latest Rumor: NHL Team Expected to Announce Rebranding in 2012
ogreslayer replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
I think it's either Florida or Phoenix & they're going to rebrand based on the target audience they should be going after... How does the Florida Snow Birds sound? Or maybe the Phoenix Transplants? -
...he picked up it from an Eastern European prostitute.

I'm thinking she will....

And are you aware that he signed that small of a deal because he had only played 101 games over the previous 3 seasons because of a back injury? Not saying that Salei didn't outplay Big E at all but if not for his injury problems & having to prove that he could stay healthy, odds are he would have signed a bigger deal somewhere else than Detroit for $750k with a possible $350k in performance bonuses last season.
-
Personally, I would love to see Laich in the Winged Wheel. Given the needs on the blue line & the glut of forwards we'll still have if Eaves & Miller (and possibly Drapes) are re-signed, I don't see it happening.

Things that would happen before Nick would play for the Lightning... 1. Atlanta gets a third chance with a new hockey team 2. Joe Thorton decides to grow up & not be a diving little ***** any more 3. Atlanta's new hockey team moves to Red Deer, Alberta 4. Jiri Hudler becomes the Wings #1 center, leading scorer, & wins the Conn Smythe on the way to bringing another Cup to Hockeytown 5. Kwame Kilpatrick elected mayor of Detroit again after getting out of prison 6. The robot apocalypse 7. Extraterrestrial life is confirmed as is the fact that Elvis & Michael Jackson have been living with them for years 8. Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho is elected President of the United States 9. Garry Bettman pushes through rules changes to increase the amount of fighting in the NHL 10. blueadams gives up posting line combo threads on LGW

If he leaves, just put his long lost, twin brother behind the bench and nobody will notice the difference maybe.
-
He's worth about a buck fitty. That's right...a buck fitty... Offer him no more that $1.5-1.75 for 2-3 years. If he doesn't like it, he can try his luck elsewhere like Lilja had to do.

There was just never a chance that it was going to work in Atlanta, one of the worst sports towns in North America. No offense to any Atlanta fans out there, but when the Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz Braves teams couldn't even sell out a playoff series back in the day, it's a bad sports town.

I would throw Miami on there before Nashville actually.

Given how closely the NHL is watching those long-term, front end deals, I wouldn't be too shocked to see Kenny sign him on a 3 year & then do another deal once he hits that magic 35+ year old plateau. Regardless, Kronner will end up being a lifer.
-
I know for me, and I would think it's the same for the vast majority of Wings fans out east, one of the bigger reasons for wanting a move comes down to start times of away games, especially during the playoffs. Hate hate HATE those 10:00 EST start times.
-
How about a boycott of Wings away games in Western Conference cities? Ultimately, the league & the other teams out west want the Wings due to their drawing power on the road. Nothing short of that will precipitate a move I'm afraid. Granted if I had made it through your entire post, I would have noticed you mentioned that already. Either way, I still think there's a 0% chance it happens regardless of any fan effort to influence things.
-
That's exactly how I see it going down. Figure Gary will keep the 2 teams asking to move east the most (i.e. Detroit & Columbus) out west instead.

Former Red Wings asst Brad McCrimmon named new head coach

In Russia, the team coaches YOU. -
I think if anything, seeing Rafi retire at 37 due to injuries will push Lids to come back at least one more year. He's still healthy & playing at a Norris Trophy level. Why not keep going under those circumstances, right?
-
I'm hoping at the end of the Rafi presser that Kenny then takes the mic to announce a new one year deal for Nic.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons
ogreslayer replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Rafi will certainly be missed, to say the least. The more & more I look at the crop of available UFAs on D this year, the more I think that the big splash Kenny will make to replace Rafi will come via trade & any UFA signings will be of the Salei variety to fill out the #5-7 spots. I just think at this point, the Wings will be priced out of the bigger names available and it's not Kenny's style to go after RFAs. Just my $0.02. -
Homer's still got a year left on his contract I believe. He'll definitely be back.
-
While I won't say he excels in a top 6 role, I think that's where he needs to be if he stays. Sort of a final "step up or get out" move. If he's going to be a 3rd or 4th liner next season or a tweener at best & inserted into the top 6 due to injuries, etc., I think it's going to be a waste of cap space. If he's supposed to be a scorer, he needs to be on a scoring line. If not, trade him off for a pick or pucks & sign someone suited to 3rd or 4th line duty.

Holland by far at this point based on his long term track record. Stevie had a great first year but he walked into a spot that was perfect for a new GM i.e. a very talented team that had grossly underachieved the previous year due in large part to mismanagement at the ownership level. The pieces for the run they're on were largely in place before Stevie arrived. And regardless, 1 year does not a trend make. I want to see if he can keep the team at a sustained level of success over a longer period of time. The first indication of how that's going to go certainly has to be how he goes about locking up Stamkos.

There's only room for one enigmatic player who can score in bunches & then disappear for weeks on end & the Wings already have the Mule. No need to add another.
-
And you rock the hardest for putting this together. Big thanks are in order.

Think E needs to talk to his countryman & former teammate Lilja about turning down offers from the Wings thinking he'll make more money somewhere else. Granted Brian Burke will probably turn around & sign him for $4m a year on a multi-year contract because another former Wings pylon worked out so well for him.
