Used to read his stuff but I can't say I miss it now. Most of what he was writing about near the end seemed to be more about music, his kids, baby names, etc. Personally, I prefer to have more than just a little hockey in my hockey writing but I guess I'm weird that way.

Add another to the list... Lebda - Sucks at hockey

Agreed. Putting in a request on Emery given their goalie situation now makes a lot more sense then when he plucked Nobokov off the waiver wire. That is unless he's just extremely deluded that Nabby will actually report at some point.

Per the Freep, he's out at least Wednesday vs. the Preds. Calling it an injury to his left knee. http://www.freep.com/article/20110208/SPORTS05/110208029/1053/SPORTS05/Wings-Filppula-out-against-Predators-

Per Bob McKenzie, TB just put Ritola on waivers today. Update on his ear issue here.
-
The only problem there is that the Avs ain't making the playoffs & Forsberg will hang 'em up again after the season.
-
I think they're just fainting over the fact that the Thrashers are in a playoff spot at the moment. If they keep playing like this, expect more players fainting through the rest of the season.

Kronner's listed as 6' even 192 lbs. OK so that should mean he's more like 5'10" 185 lbs or something.

Ultimately, this is why the Wings are successful year after year after year. Each player has a role to play & accept it even if they may have the skill to do more if the opportunity was there.
-
Intead of white, how much better would it be if they went with a Team Sweden inspired yellow? Got to admit, I like 'em though...

You mean playing for the Notre Dame Fightin' Irish really doesn't mean he's of Irish descent? Really? I guess you're going to tell me now that Justin Adbelkader isn't actually from Sparta. I've done nine pints of Guinness before. Lebda's play wasn't '9 pints drunk'. It was more like 15 at least.

I think they should play this when Helmer scores...
-
Didn't the Wings have this Irishman at one time?

Maltby to have jersey retired by Owen Sound Attack

Hey, did you know he was a 50 goal scorer in juniors? -
Creed without the self important preaching in their music.

Cheesus, do a simple search & you can see there's absolutely no double standard here at all. From Scott Burnside (espn.com) on the Nick & Pavs suspension... NHL commissioner Gary Bettman imposed the policy, established at last year's general managers meetings, to legitimize injury claims and improve All-Star Weekend attendance. The policy states All-Stars who are injured must have missed at least the last game before the All-Star break in order to be excused; otherwise, they must sit out the first regular-season game after the break. Looks pretty cut & dry to me. I dislike Crosby as much as the next guy but seriously...really? really?

Based on what LeBrun & Bob McKenzie have tweeted already, I think that's the first step to the Isles being able to go back to the league and in essence make the contract binding next season as well. Wouldn't hold my breath to see Nabby in Detroit next year either.
-
I think all of this is just a feint to distract people from Kenny's true plan...to bring Cujo out of retirement. I mean it worked so well the last time he was in Detroit with 2 other goalies right? Right?
-
30-12 playoff record in 3 years with the Wings. Yeah, I'm fairly certain that would be a winning record right?
-
Think Kenny could structure a contract with enough bonus incentives large enough that would hit next year's cap to make teams balk at a waiver request yet be almost impossible to hit if Nabby played in Detroit?
-
And I bet other teams that might have considered putting in a waiver request wouldn't have. That would have come through the former working relationship between the two, nothing more. You think Stan Bowman would have called Kenny if he were the one putting in the waiver request, or Jon Davidson? Doubt it. I'm not buying into the whole "The power of Kenny compels them" theory on getting Nabby through waivers.

Is that why Stevie laid off claiming Ritola off waivers? Oh wait...

Only one I've met is Gordie. He did a "make-a-wish" appearance & autograph signing with the Indianapolis Ice back in 2000 or 2001. Had my Lids jersey on, which he commented on as soon as my turn in the autograph line came up. Had a nice long chat with him about the Wings season & predicting Lids would win his first Norris that year among other things. I finally had to beg out of the conversation as we were holding up the line & some people behind me were really getting pissed. He seemed like he could have just sat there talking hockey for hours. He's always been Mr. Hockey but it was never clearer to me why he was after spending 5 minutes or so talking with him. Hero of the highest order. Edit: I will say I've met some NHL players before they actually hit the NHL. Was at Bowling Green the same time Rob Blake & Nelson Emerson where there and actually ran into both more than a few times.

The Guardian Project: From the mind of Stan Lee, the man who brought you....Stripperella! Stripperella? Really? A stripper with above average intelligence as a power? Really? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stripperella Time to hang it up Stan. Jack Kirby is laughing at you from the afterlife at this very moment.
