Well if he can get through waivers, this might turn out to be one hell of a steal. I think the problems in SJ didn't start & end with Nabby in goal like some would believe. I do think the move says less about the organization's belief in Howard & more about Ozzie's injury status.

THN: Zetterberg should be disciplined for skipping ASG
ogreslayer replied to edicius's topic in General
What you may not realize is that my avatar is Hank's baby picture. What I really love about that article is basically he's got his panties in a twist over a rumor that Hank...among others btw...had their team ask out of the ASG for them. A rumor... -
No no no....You have that wrong. Joey will be the end boss in that game.

Holland Trying to Bring Larsson in as Howard's Backup?
ogreslayer replied to VM1138's topic in General
Probably an equal change of that to seeing Larsson in the Winged Wheel this year. -
Holland Trying to Bring Larsson in as Howard's Backup?
ogreslayer replied to VM1138's topic in General
I really don't see that happening. God forbid the Wings lose another goalie this year, but if they do I think we would see Jordan Pearce suit up before they would bring Larsson back stateside. Or more likely Kenny would look to sign or trade for a cheap stop-gap. -
Site duped my reply for some reason... Since it's here, I guess I'll mention that I paid not too much over that for tickets to the Winter Classic in Wrigley. That was worth the money. An ASG wouldn't be in my opinion.

Going to the skills competition might be interesting but I wouldn't drop that much money on tix for the ASG. Save it & use it to buy tix for the Wings in the finals this season.

Name Me a Better 2-Way Player Today than Henrik Zetterberg…
ogreslayer replied to zetterbergfan's topic in General
Best 2 way player in the game on a consistent basis? Currently watching games from the press box with a broken wrist. OK, granted Dats & Z are like 1A & 1B. And I have to add, if either one of them wanted to concentrate on offense only, there's no question in my mind that either one would lead the league in scoring. -
I really want to see Helm compete in the shooting accuracy event myself
-
I'm gonna say Eaves

And the hits keep on coming. Jimmy has been stepping up his play of late though. Let's hope that continues.

Affirmative http://www.bluejacketsxtra.com/live/content/sports/stories/2009/01/27/jackets_1-27.ART_ART_01-27-09_C1_M8CMUVB.html?sid=101 Maybe Kenny should take a run at trading for him with Stuie out & giving them a reunion.
-
That could be high comedy indeed to see him completely run the Sens into the ground. Better yet, when he does let's have the NHL then relocate them to Kansas City or Seattle.
-
That was during the 2002-2003 season right?
-
I wouldn't necessarily disagree that in winning the Norris, you must have a fair amount of offensive skill as that is what get's the voters' attention. But as Mike Green can attest to, you can't lead the league in points as a defenseman & almost completely suck in your own zone & expect to win it. Buff will continue to get attention, possibly wind up in the top 3, but even if he is he will be a distant third. In the scheme of things though, voting for the Norris is alot more cut & dry than voting for the Selkie which really is the award that goes to the best defensive forward that at least scores 20 goals in a season.

No the refs screwed us again.
-
Here I was going to say Babcock out 2 weeks with upper body injury: bed head.
-
Yes to this. Didn't Kenny pretty much say coming out of camp that Smith was NHL ready but he wouldn't be able to crack the roster because the talent in front of him? Give him a chance to prove that he is.
-
I participate & at every opportunity when they allow for free form feedback, I suggest they stop forcing Cindy & Ovie at fans. Oh, almost forgot. I also take every opportunity to point out the stupidity of only running their promos for the league on the NHL Network & during games on Versus. Yes by all means, market to the people that already support your sport & nobody else. Brilliant!
-
Put me squarely in the camp of those who would rather not see any of the Wings in the ASG. Even with the new format, it's still largely a joke & I would rather have the boys use that time to rest & recharge.
-
Well if anything, be glad it's against the Islanders. I for one am interested to see what Tatar can do against the big boys.

Zetterberg: +knows how to beard up like a real man -bad back might take years off his career Datsyuk: +Datsyukian dekes -stated he wants to play his last year or so back home Lidstrom: +best defenseman of his generation if not all time -has to retire some day Cleary: +one of if not the hardest workers on the team -can he ever get through a full season healthy? Franzen: +a playoff beast -seems to get injured in a stiff wind Bertuzzi: +has paid his dues & is now more comfortable in his own skin in Detroit -he will no longer be the beast he was after the Moore incident Rafalski: +great right-handed shot at the point on the PP -I'll be as bald as him soon watching him get man-handled in his own zone Filppula: +sound defensively & can step up offensively in the playoffs -needs to learn the same lesson Datsyuk did in shooting the puck more often Kronwall: +KRONWALLED!!! -how can someone who hits that hard be so fragile too? Holmstrom: +the best ever at a very specialized skill set: Swenglish -It's so specialized that nobody else speaks it Eaves: +the true "Happy" on the team -could probably be more than just a grinder if given the chance Stuart: +one of the few shot blockers on the team -has an annoying tendency of trying to teach teammates on how to block his own shots during games Hudler: +always "Happy" -really has no reason to be given his play this year Helm: +speed kills -his shot could kill spectators too given how badly he usually misses the net Ericsson: +playing much better this season -still needs to figure out how to hit someone Abdelkader: +willing to drop the gloves -has a long way to go in figuring out what to do once he drops them Modano: +greatest American forward if not player ever -Does he really still have the fire to play? Salei: +good, cheap upgrade from Lilja -is being compared to Lilja a good thing? Miller: +Seems to have found his niche with the Wings -Odds are he's gone at the end of the year Draper: +Winner of the Chuck Norris look-a-like contest every April-June -Could the Wings have been better off with Ritola in his spot?
-
I think it has more to do with the fact that being paired with Lids means he's playing on the side opposite of what he's used to. He's said in the past that he doesn't feel comfortable doing that & I would have a feeling that being out of his comfort zone has effected his game somewhat.
-
I thought that a Hudler hat trick was getting knocked down at the boards, a giveaway at the blueline, & a snarky comment from Babcock after the game.
-
Realistically - Chances that Holland makes a deadline move?
ogreslayer replied to stevkrause's topic in General
I think it really comes down to how Hudler is playing & whether or not Modano is set to come back before the playoffs.
