4/4 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Flyers 4

Any of these passes connecting? -
The guy I'm playing had Luongo in last night and he has Quick. It's like some miracle -- Quick has s*** the bed in his only start this week and Luongo was a -4.

Am I the only one who thinks there could be a good chance we see Ozzie in net tomorrow against the Oilers? I'd love to see Babcock continue to start Howard while he's on a hot streak, but with only a handfull of games left and Babcock's quotes about Ozzie seeing playing time before the season ends, I think we might see Osgood starting tomorrow. The implications of this could be puzzling. If Ozzie comes out and somehow realizes that this is his best chance to become a playoff staple again and really shines, do you think we could see Ozzie starting more games to close out the season or even become the starting goaltender in the playoffs? More importantly, considering what Osgood's done the past two playoffs, is it a foregone conclusion that Howard's the starting goaltender come the playoffs? I think we've seen a changing of the guard in Detroit this year and I'm ecstatic to see Howard playing so well. I just feel like he's much quicker on his lateral movements and gives the team the best chance to win now, but we also saw Ty Conklin really shine last year in the regular season, only to be surpassed by Osgood in April.

For all of those interested, it sounds like Howard will be calling into the VERSUS post game report for the Sabres/Bruins game.

1. Bertuzzi loses the remainder of his bottom teeth by actually blocking a shot by catching it mid-air with his mouth 2. Cindy Crosby shown flinching when he sees Jimmy Howard coming down the handshake line after the Wings sweep the Pens in the 2010 SCF at Pittsburgh. A reverse angle shows Crosby cowering behind Bill Guerin. 3. Pierre McGuire loses his job trying to cut a lock of Crosby's hair while he's in between the benches.

I live in Baltimore now and only go when the Wings are playing them. I absolutely hate going to that arena. I've been there before Ovechkin and it was truly a great place to see a game, but everything from the unruly, obnoxious, bandwagon fans, to the goal horn annoys me now. I also think Joe Beninati has a horrdenous voice. I'd rather listen to Mickey Redmond talk about those "gosh darn composite sticks" for the entire 60 minutes than hear anything that that midget has to say. I guess Ken Daniels has spoiled me

Should he start both games Saturday AND Sunday though with the playoffs becoming close to a certainty? I certainly think he needs to be in net against Nashville because we need the points against them, but no matter the age, that HAS to be tough on someone.

I'm all for that, but visions of Steve Mason keep coming to mind. The playoffs are a different animal and Osgood can't seem to turn it on mentally until April and we all know what happens when he does. My apologies -- Should've checked MLive beforehand. The Blue Jackets come to town Thursday and another series of back-to-back games this weekend. I just don't want Howard to become the next Kiprusoff and be exhausted even more come the playoffs.

Filppula following similar path to Datsyuk...?
Paul MacLean's Mustache replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
I think that's the big difference right there. When Datsyuk isn't a Red Wing anymore will be a very, very sad time. -

Great game, Fil. Hope he continues to center this line. Anyone see the moron in the stands with the Bruins jersey? -

HAHAHAHA. That's like saying: "If you look at the footage, Bertuzzi was really trying to just put Steve Moore's tag back in his sweater" GET OUT. YOUR TEAM LOST. -

Get the f*** out of the RED WINGS forum. I hate these people that make accounts on opposing teams' forums just to talk s***. You should be at a Pen's forum crying at how badly your team was outplayed tonight, while also getting advice about how to get your Crosby figure ALL the way in your ass. -
The Red Wings play a game tomorrow. DISCUSS.

2010 Winter Olympics - Sweden vs Germany (Group C)
Paul MacLean's Mustache replied to redwings8831's topic in General
Line pairings in this game didn't make a lot of sense to me. Franzen shouldn't be grinding it out on the fourth line with Freddy Modin. I'd love to see him with Z or the Sedins. Was it me, or did it seem like Lids/Kronwall weren't utilized enough on special teams? -
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=515802 Reportedly, the Hawks are in the mix for Kovalchuck's services, but given their publicized cap issues, can they afford to bring him on? He reportedly turned down the biggest contract in Thrasher's history.

Kovalchuk traded to New Jersey
Paul MacLean's Mustache replied to Paul MacLean's Mustache's topic in General
Madden's a one-year deal, but Kane, Keith, and Toews area all signed. I think still think parting with Barker and Versteeg (about a $3 million cap hit for both) along with others may help land Kovalchuck, but I think he could get more money from Los Angeles or Philadelphia if he wanted a long term deal after this season. Both are contenders as well. -

NHL the #2 sport in America in 10 years
Paul MacLean's Mustache replied to stevkrause's topic in General
To be honest, I like hockey being a regional or niche sport. I think American markets like Detroit, Minnesota, Buffalo, and Boston thrive because hockey has always been deeply embedded in those particular areas' culture. I couldn't imagine hockey games becoming the "it" sporting event to attend and while I think it would be great for the league, I feel that a strong majority of hockey fans today are extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to their local markets. Baseball and football have so many casual fans because I think that many Americans feel that they HAVE to accept these sports on some level because everyone else has. Hockey fans actively seek the sport out. Living in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area now, I've seen the Caps firsthand go from the basement of D.C. sports to the hottest ticket in the city and most of those fans only started paying attention when names like "Ovechkin" and "Green" became household names. Not to mention, more popularity breeds a higher market demand. It was an absolute travesty to me that I had to shell out more money for two tickets to a regular season Caps game than I did for the two tickets to game one I purchased for this past year's cup final (the seats were comparable). I think if the NHL wants to flourish, they should work on promoting the sport first and superstars second. -

Meech to be moved to the first line after this game? Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Meech looks good to me. -
