I agree with you there, with Helm and Eaves doing the dirty work along the boards and cycling, Hudler could find some open ice to work with.

I totally agree that Datsyuk and Filppula should play together as much as possible. If Franzen is able to play, he will, if nothing else than for the fact that no matter how quiet he may be, he is capable of a 3 to 5 goal outburst at any time. I agree that Abdelkader should sit, while his size and physical play are an asset against a bigger team, he has put us shorthanded in the 3rd period each of the last 3 games. My lineup would look something like this: Filppula-Datsyuk-Cleary Franzen-Zetterberg-Bertuzzi Eaves-Helm-Miller Hudler-Modano-Holmstrom

Thanks, I needed that. Talk about two polar opposites, the Lions and the Red Wings, I will be a fan of both until the day I die, but it's a lot easier being a Wings fan than a Lions fan. Every time the Lions seem to be on the right track, something unexpected derails them for 4 or 5 years or so, whereas the Red Wings were only a few years removed from the "Dead Wings" era when I moved to Mt. Clemens, and have given me more happy memories over the last 25 years than I can count. I will never stop believing, but it is situations like this that make me that much more grateful for the successes I have been able to witness.

Wow, I must say I am impressed by the effort by the Lightning, they definitely look like they want it more than the Caps, who look like they have taken a huge step backwards. If they can play like this in the East finals, I don't see Boston or Philly beating them.

Actually, the Dr. Acula part is sound advice too. Seriously though, if you don't believe your team has at least a chance to win, why even bother watching the game? Sure, down 2-0 is a significant hole, but it can be overcome, we've seen it happen.

I did a quick comparison using the DirecTV search page linked above and the blackout zones for GCL, and they are almost identical. Even the border markets are pretty accurate, for example Cleveland OH is blacked out for PIT on GCL, and the DirecTV search shows that Cleveland gets Root Sports, the Penguins network. On GameCenter the game will only be blacked out in the Red Wings market (all of Michigan) and Sharks market (all of California north of Bakersfield and the greater Reno/Carson City NV areas). Day passes will be available.

I'm not turning on anyone, my last post was in defense of my first post which someone called out. What I said is that Homer CAN be a liability WHEN the play of the other team dictates a dump and chase style over a carry into the zone style, which I observed happening a lot last game. You have a better idea, fine lets hear it, that's the point of this thread, isn't it?

Neither a Sharks fan nor smoking anything, sorry to disappoint. I am simply repeating an opinion that has been stated by several others over the last 3 years or so that I have been reading these boards: Holmstrom is often a liability on the first line, especially when we are playing a team with bigger forwards necessitating more of a dump and chase approach. I'm not saying he is completely useless, no one in their right mind could honestly say that, but a lot of the time Homer's impact is less when we are chipping the puck in and having to go after it, he is better when Zetterberg or Datsyuk can carry the puck into the zone and he can head straight to his office. Based on what I saw in game 1, I feel that the Wings need to try playing more dump and chase, and the lines that I posted are what in my opinion suit that style better.

I say we dress Miller, and send him out there with one goal in mind: take out Joe Pavelski by any means necessary. Seriously, the guy dives enough, might as well give him a reason to flop around on the ice for real this time. Even if it means getting suspended, get that ugly soccer-playing pantywaist off the ice for as long as possible. Seriously though, we should stack the top 3 lines something like this: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary Franzen-Filppula-Bertuzzi Abdeklader-Helm-Eaves and have a "4th line" that never plays as an even strength line: Hudler-Draper/Miller-Holmstrom Roll 3 lines and keep the 4th liners as situational players, put Hudler and Holmstrom out on power plays only, and have Draper or Miller kill penalties, but not much even strength unless you are subbing them on the other 3 lines to give someone else a breather.
