This will be addressed with the next batch of updates, probably early next week. Vault is included, in the top right-hand corner of the signup page for Vault there will be a link, it will either say "Already Registered? Sign In" or "Go to NHL GameCenter Livetm" which if you click will either take you to the login (which will look like last year's GameCenter Live login) or to the Launch page. It still says GameCenter Live on the pages and in the URLs for Vault, that will also be addressed during the next batch of updates. Try changing a setting in Flash, right-click on the video and select Settings, then uncheck Enable Hardware Acceleration, this usually clears up any choppiness at full screen.

The URL is different this year, it is now gamecenterlive.nhl.com, whereas last year was gamecenter.nhl.com which is now the Vault for classic games and past season's archives.

The video is encoded from a 720p source, and streamed at bitrates of 400, 800, 1600, and 3000 kbps. As long as your CPU and RAM are above the requirements and you have enough bandwidth, you can view at maximum quality, which is pretty close to HD television. Also, there will be a free preview on Monday the 11th. The Wings aren't playing but you can try out the site and get a feel for how it performs.

We use predetermined replies to answer commonly asked questions, it is almost universal among support. As for the issue at hand, our (Neulion) original plan was to submit the app to Sony Computer Entertainment Inc for final approval and release today, but the PS3 app we developed has not been approved by SCEI, and the re-submittal process could take as long as 6 weeks, so that is why the reply said what it did. What are his chances of cracking the Lightning lineup any time soon? You gotta figure that Yzerman is directly responsible for this move, considering how much he was involved in player development while in the Wings organization, but is Ritola going to have a realistic shot at grabbing a roster spot without the coaching staff having a chance to evaluate him alongside their other roster players and prospects? Don't get me wrong, I really hope he does well there, I just wonder how much of a setback this could be to his chances of cracking the NHL this year.

GameCenter has DVR-like controls, you can start the game over anytime after it starts for up to 24 hours, so using your example if you could not start watching the game until 9, you could start the game over from the beginning and skip the coomercials. As for hockeystreams, the odds of it being legal are pretty slim, and the fact that the people from the NHL digital media department that we meet with every few months have said they are investigating the site leads me to believe that it is not legal. I think they said there are some jurisdiction issues involved, but that they have shut down most of the illegal sites selling pirated feeds of NHL games. The only promotion available is for Center Ice subscribers through Rogers, Shaw, and Bell in Canada, they get a free GameCenter subscription with their paid Center Ice subscription. If money is tight you can pay in installments instead of all at once, 8 payments of $19.95 is a lot easier to handle than one lump sum of $159

We actually haven't had a chance to look at the PS3 app yet, so I can't give many specifics, but the way it is supposed to work is you will download the app from the PSN store (they will charge you $10 for it) and once you have downloaded the app you will have to register it, there will be a validation code that you enter through the app to link it to your Gamecenter account for the computer, then you will be able to stream live games through your console directly to your TV, and since the video hardware on the PS3 is far superior to any media center PC, you should have a much better picture through the PS3 than you will by hooking your computer up to your big screen. We should be getting a production app and a console to test it on early next week, so I will post more details in this thread then. Also, for those of you that have the Roku box for Netflix, there will be an app for your box that will do the same thing. The only software you will need is the app itself, and of course a Gamecenter account for the computer. Another bonus of the PS3 app is that you can actually be signed in on a computer and also be streaming through the PS3 at the same time, whereas if you try to sign on to more than one computer at a time it will boot one computer off.

The way I understand it, when you buy Center Ice you have to have a premium sports package already, so you would have all the RSNs that show NHL games (Fox Sports, Comcast Sportsnet, MSG, etc) plus the dedicated "Center Ice" channels for just the hockey games. You also get Versus and the NHL Network, which anytime those channels are showing a game there is no "Center Ice" channel for that game, you have to watch it on the regular network's channel. With GameCenter, you are blacked out for your local team, markets are based on the network's distribution territory not whether you actually have the network, and any nationally televised game on NBC, Versus, or NHL Network is blacked out live. One of the main reasons that people tell me they prefer GameCenter to Center Ice is the archives, if you miss a game on Center Ice you just miss out on that game (unless you set your DVR), but with GameCenter every game is archived 48 hours after the live broadcast, and for games that are not blacked out you can start them over for 24 hours, even while the game is in progress, with no additional hardware or software. Also, GameCenter includes access to the NHL Vault, which is archives for every game since 2007-08 and several classic games from the 60's-90's, and by the end of October there are supposed to be as many as 500 classic games. Not trying to sound like a salesperson for Gamecenter, just giving you more information so you can make an informed decision.

I think Tampa has the best shot at the playoffs, Stamkos is the real deal and will be the biggest reason the team is successful, but he has a much better supporting cast this year. I predicted Toronto would sneak into the playoffs this year, and I stand by that prediction, they do play in the East after all. Oilers and Blue Jackets, no way they make the playoffs out of the West Atlanta has a better all-around team but no star players who can take over a game or even a period, so they will not be able to win enough games in their own division to stay competitive Florida hasn't had Dale Tallon in their organization long enough to be one year wonders The Islanders will finish last again this year, with Streit our for 6 months their D is very questionable

Also, for those making mention of hockeystreams.net, don't be surprised if that site gets shut down if it hasn't already been, the NHL is severly cracking down on unauthorized streaming sites charging money for hockey, (don't worry, I haven't told them about Drumnj, he doesn't charge)

Agreed, Mursak is hyped as being "Helm with hands", and rightfully so. I remember one shift during the Red & White game where Mursak was skating stride for stride with Helm on the backcheck, I don't think I've seen anyone keep up with Helm like that. I wonder if tey do any kind of skills competition during training camp like others do, it would be interesting to see who is really the fastest player on the team once and for all.

The video of the Pronger hit directly contradicted what the narrator was saying about legal hits during it. The opposing player was turning up ice and there is no way you can convince me that he had time to look ahead and see Pronger bearing down on him in time to protect himself.

I hope this stream is a little more sophisticated than the Red vs. White game, I missed all but 2 of the goals and there were no replays. I guess since NHL Network is showing the game that there will be a little more production quality and such.

Even if Bert never drops the gloves again this season, the fact that he stood up for a teammate (and apparently beat the living piss out of the guy) should put the fear in opponents for the foreseeable future, no one wants to be on the receiving end of another Steve Moore incident. Either way, I really hope this is a glimpse of a meaner, more aggressive Bert this year, we desperately need that kind of presence. If nothing else then to give him a few free passes for the inevitable bonehead plays, no-look drop passes into space, one-hand-on-the-stick giveaways, bad penalties that we have come to know and loathe from him.

I tried to watch the whole game, but I missed all but 3 goals because I'm at work, and there was no replay on the stream From what I did see, vFlip had some very strong moves early on and almost buried a couple of chances, Bertuzzi still hasn't leaned how to hold a stick with 2 hands, Cleary appears to have regained a step, Modano looks awesome wearing the winged wheel, Hudler is going to have a big year on the PP, he looks like he got stronger and faster while he was gone. I am excited about Brendan Smith, he looks like he will be a top-2 guy in a few years, hopefully the defensive aspects of his game will catch up to his offense. Tatar and Mursak are going to have huge years in GR and it will be hard to keep them off the big squad next year. I hope Owens gets a chance, he could be a good 3rd/4th line player that can hit, fight, and has decent hands and speed. I can't wait until we start playing some other teams, even if it is pre-season, I will be glued to my laptop screen. Please, please, please keep the stream links coming.
