Nice hit by Big Rig, then he gets pulled into a fight for a clean legal hit. Weak effort on the part of both combatants.

I agree. The only thing I don't like about the west coast games is the wait. When the Wings play early, it's usually too busy at work for me to watch, I almost always end up missing most of the first 2 periods, but when they are out west and start after 10, it's quieted down enough to where I can watch in peace without the phone ringing off the hook. That and the games are almost always highly spirited and entertaining. Only 1 hour 7 minutes left until the puck drops thankfully.

Anaheim: Artyukhin (big body, plays with an edge, decent skill set) Atlanta: Kozlov (I was bummed when we had to deal him, would love it if he could retire as a Wing) Boston: Lucic (I know he's a bit of a prick, but he's a dangerous scorer and is a physical force that we need desparately) Buffalo: Vanek/Miller (imagine Vanek playing on the wing with Datsyuk, and what team wouldn't want a goalie like Miller) Calgary: Giordano (he's very underrated) Carolina: J. Jokinen (shootout specialist, but he's not one-dimensional) Chicago: Campbell (j/k, don't really want any of them, although I'd wouldn't mind Hjalmarsson) Colorado: Wolski (just something about his style that I admire, even though he usually kills us head-to-head) Columbus: Nash (OK, I admit it, I don't really know anyone else on that team) Dallas: Neal (kid is a beast) Edmonton: Smid (big physical young defenseman with lots of upside, seems a waste for him to rot in Edmonton) Florida: Horton (toss up between him and Booth) LA: Kopitar (again, who wouldn't based on his on-ice performance, don't know how he is in the locker room) Minnesota: Boogaard/Scott (both 6'8" 258, so it depends whether you want a huge beast on the 4th line or the 3rd D pair) Montreal: Markov (solid defense, PP quarterback, leadership) Nashville: Goc (what's up with his name?) New Jersey: Parise (again, imagine him on Datsyuk's wing) NY Islanders: Neilsen (just like him) NY Rangers: Dubinsky (power forward, reminds me of Pat Verbeek) Ottawa: Volchenkov (he's a tank) Philadelphia: Coburn (another absolute tank) Phoenix: Boedker (I guess I just want to have a Dane on this team) Pittsburgh: No thank you, on principle alone San Jose: Malhotra (wanted him in the offseason, having a career year) St. Louis: Oshie (he plays bigger than his actual size) Tampa Bay: Meszaros (another guy I just like) Toronto: Christian Hanson (the son of one of the Hanson brothers from the movie) Vancouver: Kesler (self-explanatory) Washington: Backstrom (the only one I don't hate)

Wow, I had no idea the difference would be so huge. In all fairness, I do think last night's goal skewed things a bit, but it looks like the consensus is that Lebda has to go. I think they have about the same value to a team roster-wise, small defensemen that have moderate offensive potential, Lebda has better speed but tends to pinch and play out of position, Meech more of a positional player, but for a team trying to shed salary, the player making more money for the same role is more expendable. That being said, I'd prefer to have Janik called up as the 7th Dman and deal Lebda AND Meech, but I don't see that happening either. Lidstrom-Rafalski Stuart-Kronwall Lilja-Ericsson Janik Looks like a playoff-caliber defensive corps.

Bring on the D*cks tomorrow. I like these west-coast road trips.

What do you plan to do when the Olympic break goes on?
McAwesome replied to chukjones's topic in General
Definitely going to be watching every game that a Red Wings player is involved in, also speed skating. Taking some time off from work to catch up on my schoolwork. -
At the risk of getting flamed, I'd like to know why certin people think Filppula is redundant on this team. In the system that the Red Wings plae, the center is a playmaker in the offensive zone, and essentially a 3rd defenseman in the defensive zone, and whether he plays on the 2nd or 3rd line, he fills that role quite well. I am not saying I would like to see him score more goals, of course I would, he is my favorite current Red Wing, but I do not think 3 Million is overpaying for what he brings to this team and more importantly, what he can bring to the team if he continues to perform at his current level, goals being the ONLY exception.

I like the fact that Heinz is in Pittsburgh, they make pretty good ketchup. Dick's Sporting Goods is also based out of Pittsburgh, bought my last pair of rollerblades from them.

Hiller stays a Duck, what about Gigeure now?
McAwesome replied to swiss_redwingfan's topic in General
If they were to trade Toskala for Giguerre straight up, it would actually work out to the Ducks favor, as not only is Toskala's cap hit much lower (4 mil as opposed to 6 mil) and Toskala is a UFA at the end of the season, whereas Giggy has one year left at that price tag. It would allow the Ducks to be buyers at the trade deadline as it would free up 2 million in cap space (I'm not a capologist, so I apologize if my math is not exact) to spend in other areas, and they have been surging lately so they might be thinking playoff run by that point. It would help the Leafs as they would gain a Stanley Cup champion goaltender and Conn Smythe winner who is by most accounts still in his prime, giving them a clear number one (no offense to Gustavsson). Now if it was a multi-player deal, then maybe it swings to one team's advantage, but Giguere for Toskala straight up is a win-win situation for both teams. That being said, I could really care less where he goes as long as it is East, don't want another Western team picking up a goalie like Giggy who will have a major chip on his shoulder and something to prove. -
I'm with you, although Babcock likes to have a right-handed shot at the point on both PP units, but I agree that he should have gotten a more realistic shot on the PP when everyone was hurt. I attribute most of his recent struggles on lack of confidence, which began when he went cold offensively. That and having Lebda as a defensive partner magnifies every little mistake he makes because neither of them are good enough to cover for the other when one decides to pinch in, and both of them like to. I hope he can turn it around, because we have all seen the kind of upside he has, and he could develop into a top 4 blue-liner on this team for many years, but in the here and now it's been painful to see him (and the team as a whole) struggle this much.

Hank you very much

Not again

I don't normally make predictions, but here's what I see happening: At least one person will post "X player is Lazy and suckstm". Lebda and/or Ericsson will turn the puck over and give up a scoring chance against, and many will contemplate trading them for a bag of pucks or something equally cheap. Someone will complain about Filppula being overpaid and having more value to this team as trade bait than on the ice. Someone from the pro-enforcer crowd will get into an argument with someone from the anti-enforcer crowd. 55fan will post something that will make me laugh no matter the situation in the game at the time. Someone will misunderstand someone else's attempt at sarcasm. As for the game, the Red Wings will have more penalties against than the Predators and this game will not go into OT.

I like their mustard-colored jerseys. I like that David Legwand holds just about every franchise record for skaters. I like that their arena has no corporate sponsorship just like ours.

Should I be worried about how happy seeing Kronwall-Stuart as our 2nd D pairing makes me? Welcome back, Mr. Kronner. Please please please win this fricking game.

First try: 5 questions, Corey Perry Second try: 4 questions, Eric Staal Third try: 6 questions, Eric Staal I'm OK with that, although I almost threw up in my mouth a little when I saw Fairy's ugly mug, I stand by my answers, although I guessed at the better hockey song question, I have never heard of either songs they chose from.
