Wings Attempting to Re-sign Cleary
St. Michael (the Red Wing) replied to WorkingOvertime's topic in General
I hope not. Cleary not signing with anyone yet scares me more so than Brunner not signing with anyone as of now. -
An interesting point. My guesses/picks would be Quick, Suter, Pavelski and maybe Parise that's about it.
-
How about at 1.5 I know the majority on here doesn't really care that Brunner comes back cause Tatar is the better replacement or whatever. Tatar has paid his dues etc etc I'm with you on that and I won't argue that Tatar is a d-bag. Didn't Tatar complain about being sent down to GR or something along those lines this year? I mean I understand where Tatar would be frustrated and to me that doesn't make him a d-bag. Back on Brunner (topic here). However inconsistent Brunner was with us his 12 goals during the regular season and 5 in the playoffs wasn't too shabby. Dude could score regardless of how weak his defensive game is.

Which could be a good thing. Not an easy feat shedding salary though for the Wings I agree.

Buffalo fielding calls for Vanek
St. Michael (the Red Wing) replied to SwedeLundin77's topic in General
Yeah I'm sure the NYR are going to be interested. Heck a lot of teams surely. But the only reason I say or maybe people are saying Minnesota is cause Vanek played for the Gophers and won a national championship with them. Was also the MVP of the tourney in 02-03 I believe. -
I might don't mind leftovers at all. Surprised half those names haven't been signed yet.

It's time - to predict 2014 Team Canada
St. Michael (the Red Wing) replied to Yzerfan1999's topic in General
St. Louis didn't make the Canadian roster in 2010. He probably should make it this year as I like him and have nothing against him. I guess it will really depend on how he does this season. The problem for the Canadians is they have so much forward depth it's not even funny. They seriously could probably ice two teams at the Olympics this year. Kunitz isn't making the roster as of now. -

Another TSN headline today. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=428402 I hate to say it but thinking Vanek could be in a Wild jersey sooner rather than later... -
Devils sign Jagr (1 yr deal, financial terms not yet disclosed)
St. Michael (the Red Wing) replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Glad you "hoping" wasn't right. So glad "for the moment" that Jagr will never wear a Wings jersey. -

Thought I read an article on TSN recently which Jagr said it was about "playing minutes" or something along those lines when he chose New Jersey. Regardless I agree with you about him seeming to go the highest bidder now days. As much as I still don't like the Alfie signing I prefer him over Jagr. -

Forwards Nash - Crosby - Stamkos Bergeron - Giroux - Toews Staal - Richards - Carter Tavares - Getzlaf - Perry St. Louis Duchene Defense Letang - Weber Keith - Seabrook Doughty - Subban Mike Green Alex Pietrangelo Goalies Crawford Price Lulu -
Bert can't play 65 minutes a night I'll give you that.
-
Bert is still a good option IF healthy. Dats, Bert, Alfie I can go with.

Agreed about Miller not showing any real substance lately. Don't know if it's cause his team is awful or what but I'd almost take Anderson over Miller as of right now. Having said that Miller probably get's the #3 spot with Howard and Quick as a toss up respectively. When does the final 25 man roster have to be announced? Anyone know?
-
Maybe. You would think Sweden would be guaranteed at least some sort of medal this tourney. But last tourney as an example it wasn't the case.
-
It's going to be interesting to see how Sweden does this tourney. Did Alfie not get an invite?
-
Yeah DD getting an invite is quite surprising. No way we makes the team though. I believe honestly that team Canada much like Brazil in World Cup soccer could ice 2 yes 2 teams at this level. They're depth is that good.
-
Concerning last off season? Probably. Having said that we somehow sneaked into the playoffs (injuries aside) and made a run. A good run mind you. Don't blame Holland Axe Back on topic anyone wanna take a guess when Brunner might actually sign with someone?

St. Michael (the Red Wing) replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Yeah if the Devils aren't in the playoff mix around the trade deadline. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets shipped to another team. -
I'm American so I always cheer on the USA team no matter what. Nothing against the Wings staff involved with team Canada. And yes Babs is a great coach. If they didn't win the Olympics last time I think Babs would have been out. Needless to say Quennville I could take him or leave him.
-
I see Babcock is going to be Canada's head coach again for the Olympics. No surprise really. But I will be cheering against you Babs
-
Him not signing anywhere "yet" is a good sign. Or is it?

New NHL divisions, names, and playoff format
St. Michael (the Red Wing) replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
BCS idea is the worst idea I've ever heard related to hockey. Surely had to be a joke I'm going to reserve my judgement on the new playoff format until after this next year. Sort of confusing yes but let's see how it plays out. -
Red Wings select RW Anthony Mantha 20th Overall
St. Michael (the Red Wing) replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
He looks good in a Wings jersey. I hope this kid pans out to be the real deal.
