I just wanted to give a shout out to Versus. I thought the wings avalanche game was very well done. The commentators did a great job of giving credit to the Olympians who were on the ice that night. Next to FSN, Versus is my favorite network to watch hockey on, and is SOOOOO much better than NBC Hockey. I only wish Versus was a major tv channel so more people could be exposed to hockey...

The NHL MUST get back on ESPN! This way, they will have it on sportscenter, and people who watch sportscenter will be able to see fight/goal highlights. First step, get on ESPN ASAP.

I agree completely. I thought the article was great, and agree with the reasons he gave as to why the tournament is exciting. That said, I would NOT put it past Bettman to get rid of fighting in order to grab the casual fan. I LOVE fighting in hockey! It is one of the things that makes this sport great. What I don't like, and what the NHL should make a rule for, is when a meat head comes in and takes a cheap shot on someone, right after that someone made a perfectly legal hit. Ex: When Kronwall smoked Havlat (legally), and Byfuglein decides to take a cheap shot revenge. That sort of thing should get a player at least a 5 minute major.

I hate watching games on any other network than FSN. Why? Because I always have to hear about how Crosby (or now Ovie) is the greatest player ever, and how much they want to eat Crosby's hotdog. The announcers say Crosby's name so much, it makes me think that that is the only player they know... I hate it... NBC announcers are the WORST! I understand that Crysby is a great player, but that doesn't mean that I want to hear about it every other minute from the lame @ss announcer. And NBC cameraman... Please, for the love of God... Stop with the closeups of Crosby's face! I am sick of looking at his dirtstache! Worst of all, is that the Olympics is on NBC. And with Crosby on the Canadian team, I am going to have to hear/look at him for the next week and a half (or I might just pry my eyeballs out).

First of all, no one has said that Crosby isn't a great player. He is a very good player. I don't think he is the best in the league but he is up there. But it just gets so f-ing annoying the way he is shoved down our throats. Your comparison of Lidstrom to Crosby is laughable. Lidstrom has had a GREAT career, won multiple Norris trophys, and won MULTIPLE cups. With his consistency throughout his career, he can be called one of the greatest defenders of all time. Crosby has had a good early career, but he is still young and should not yet be mentioned by anyone to be the best player of all time. God I hate NBC hockey. I'm suprised I could hear the announcers speak with all of Crosby's jizz gargling out of their mouths. I wish Ken and Mickey covered the olympics...

Bettman is being selfish! How can you stop players from going to one of the most important events of their lives?! Hockey players are tough. They can deal with the schedule.
