Three of Four Officials for USA/Canada Game From Canada
Serapth replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Wow, you really are the Karl Rove of the internet world aren't you? Your last comment was about the Canadian(s) >> note plural, classic Rovian tactic, condemn the group for the actions of a few, or in your case, none <<, actually, you've learned the lesson extremely well and know the key is to stay on message and repeat the message again and again, no matter how unfounded it may actually be. Case in point: You learned the initial tactics of intimidation debating quite well, pick an enemy and stay on topic, repeating your rant, no matter how maligned it may be. Unfortunatly, the substance of your argument is weak and contradictory... But hey, in the face of your own bulls*** and contradiction continue to be "that guy", its ok, I really don't care. I have noticed as a trend you tend to argue from a point of belligerence and that s*** may work with some people, but I am perfectly willing to take the time to disect your arguments to illustrate exactly what they are. Do me a favour in the future and actually quote comments you are attributing to me. -

Yes, you would think that if you couldn't ******* read. But, I am hoping the average person here CAN read, and CAN understand that both 'whine' related comments were in direct response to the OP of this thread and not the subsequent comments. There is absolutely no conversation in this thread that aren't directly regarding the creation of the thread itself about whining. Well, except for feigned indignation that is, I suppose, but thats your modus operandi, no? -

You said nobody was whining, I said the thread was a whine, you respond with gibberish. EDIT: With your edit recognizing the OP being a whine invalidates the entire conversation, at least so far as I am involved. -

The existence of the thread is a whine. But meh, if you want to start stacking up excuses thats fine by us. -

Notice Kippy just checked his own player out of the crease. Seriously, Fin's crowd their goalies like mad, don't blame him for getting upset, in the last play I saw Kippy tripped up twice by his own players. -
Actually, I agree with you completely! On a similar, but unrelated experience(s), drummers are the coolest band members to hang out with. That said, I can't imagine an NBA player not being a dick.
-
They can be, I actually have hung out with some hockey players that were pure awesome, even players I can't stand like Tie Domi. Willing to do whatever you ask of them for charity while still being normal people. On the other hand, I have had a few encounters with Eric Lindros and a few like him and I can't imagine too many people worse.

From a detached ( aka, not actually interacting with the person ) perspective, its stuff like being a captain of industry, an elite level athlete or even as much as I hate to admit it, a move star or director. Now, in terms of someone I actually want to spend time interacting with, well... thats being interesting. Either brilliant, creative, controversial or just simply interesting. This is something most athletes aren't. That said, tons of money can buy tons of toys and I find expensive toys interesting... but even then, I would be spending a day with Zetterberg's toys.... ( Not a shot on Zetterberg by any means ). For a matter of reference, I would actually rather spend a day with John Tortorella than most hockey players, because he at least seems interesting.

Frankly, its pretty hard to judge the Olympics with any sort of historical context, as the shape of the world has changed so staggeringly much. I mean, even the breakup of Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia have had a staggering effect on the world stage, to say nothing of the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Besides, the world should be praising Norway if anyone. I mean, with their 22 medal wins, that means like 23% of the Norse are now Olympic medalists! -
Depends, is he picking up the tab? Same answer from the other thread, most hockey players just don't seem like interesting people except of course all the fun their wealth brings. Ive hung out with a few rich/famous people, mostly musicians but a couple athletes too and frankly, Athletes are among the worst. So really, it would be no different with partying with any random rich person, just he would probably have a bigger ego.

Frankly, there aren't actually many hockey players I would actually want to hang out with. I mean, yeah, I respect them for their athletic ability, but as people and role models, nah f***it. I would rather spend a night chilling with Sean Avery, if only because I could find out what its like to tag Elisha Cuthbert. Frankly, the number of hockey players that actually seem like, well, interesting people, is a very very very very very short list. That said, in hockeys defense, that list is still infinitely longer than NBA players! The whole idea of athletes as role models is laughable.

Tuned in late, but Finland just don't seem to care about winning. -

Because we realize that being patriotic doesn't mean blind obedience. Because we realize that our identify and core isn't defined by something so simple as our choice of sports teams, or how loudly we yell our national anthem, or how large the flag we wave is. More than anything, our definition as a people is that we don't fear the success of others nor fail to acknowledge the accomplishment and good traits of our friends and neighbors. That we don't need to define our successes off the failures of our peers. In a nutshell, I root for who the f*** I want to root for because I want to ******* root for them and if you don't like it, I don't give a f***, because I am Canadian. So, bite me. -

Im here still, not posting because I have company, which is kinda rude... not completely rude, just kinda rude, thus this post. Plus, Curling went late ( stupid ******* silver ) and short track is on, with a lot of Canadians active.

The Chuck Norris jokes were funny, until he start becoming aware of them and used them politically. Then it became obvious this man is actually bats*** crazy.

I'm more than twice as old as most of you...and you are indeed correct, young man. You are almost 70?

Hey, it's good hockey, and deserves its own thread. Actually, its amazing hockey, but only when its CAN, US or SWE playing, otherwise its brutal. Anyways, predictions? Im going with 5-2 CAN. EDIT: Apparently this needs to be spelled out... WOMENS HOCKEY!
-
Yeah, but every year you get older, you are going to feel those old football injuries more and more and more...
-
Actually, if there was an actual Possum Lake, the place I could most likely see it being is the UP in Michigan.
-
... you took a long time to finish High School.... EDIT: DAMNIT, I need to read to the bottom before hitting reply!
-
Well, in Canada's defense, you do live in Saskatchewan...

Bah, not in Canada. The headlines would read " American celebration confirms, even Americans think American beer tastes like piss! Olympians drink Canadian" Ironically, I can actually see a few papers running that story.
