You see it all the time, especially in multi game playoff series, where if one team is leading in the series and takes a pronounced lead, they put the backup in for some rust removal ( and, in some cases so they qualify for a cup ring ), rest the top lines and give their 3rd and 4th lines some more ice time. Its pretty much SOP in the second or third rounds of the playoffs. You just don't take much note of it, because at that point, the series is generally pretty boring.

I would let off the gas. I would almost be tempted to pull the goalie to give your backup some "just in case" ice and to reduce chance of injuries. No sense unduly risking injuries for nothing.

No, by no means, but no matter how good one team is playing, the other team has to play EPICALLY BAD, to be down 6-0 15 minutes in. So no, the Americans are playing a very good game, but Finland is playing the worst international game I have ever seen. Really think about it, even the s***ty teams like Belarus and Germany dont let in 6 goals in 15 minutes!

Frankly, this kinda sucks. I was looking forward to watching hockey this afternoon and instead we get this.... I mean really, is there any point in watching more, other than like rubbernecking when you drive past a car accident? Even worse, Wilson is going to rest the lines and take his foot off the gas ( like Canada did with Russia ), which, like Canada vs Russia, makes for even more boring hockey.

No, the Russian team that showed up to play Canada would SLAUGHTER this Finnish club. Christ, Germany would slaughter this Finnish club! They've played about 45 seconds of hockey and the 1st is almost over.

Kippy looks bad, really bad, especially giving up that first goal, but these last two have been ******* horrible defense, last two were on the defensemen, not Kippy, he made the first save both times. They were saying KIppy was trying to pull himself after the 3rd goal, and simply PULLED himself on the 4th. What is with European coaches not pulling their goalies?

Yeah, I think Slovakia is going to just get rolled over, especially if Canada keeps the momentum they had from the Russia game. Unless of course Canada runs into a super hot goalie, who manages to keep them off the board for a period or two or if the Canadians have been reading the papers and let the press go to their heads, Canada should roll over Slovakia. Of the 4 teams remaining, they are easily the weakest. Finland has just enough offense and you wings fans obviously know what Kippy can do... I would be scared based on Kippy alone. He has the ability to completely own a game and Finland easily has enough offence to get one or two past Miller. I think the FIN-USA game will be the most exciting of the two.

If for whatever reason the NBC feed is bad, or you just like Canadian hockey coverage better, you can generally use a program called "Modify Headers" that plugs in to Firefox and allows you to fake where you are coming from. The same should work for Canadians that for some unfathomable reason, want to watch NBC hockey coverage. It works for most TV sites, but not all ( for example Hulu ). If however, that still doesnt work and you want to watch TV in another country ( or want to watch NetFlix or Hulu from Canada ), you need to run a VPN like hotspot, which is completely free, mostly safe and a lot of annoying. Well, that concludes todays public service announcements.

Isn't the state of things in the World Juniors a pretty good indication of how each country's development program is working. I mean, a lot of the players currently active on both teams were in the 2006-2009 WJC.

First off, coaches and GM's ( quite wrongly imho ) don't win medals. Second, f*** Brian Burke, I hate Brian Burke with the passion of a thousand exploding suns. Ugh, I hate that man. I hate every team he is with when he is with them, I hated the Canucks when he was there, I hated Anaheim when he was there and I hated toronto, well... since I was born, but I have found a way to hate it more. Now, if you ask me which COACH I like more and think has done a better job, thats Ron Wilson all the way, and I have no issues saying that as a Canadian. Even if he is coaching the worst team in the NHL.
