i remember last night in the 3rd (i think) and modano was going to the net, had a great scoring opportunity, the puck got lost off his stick so he couldnt get a good shot, and after he shot the puck, he just moseyed on back around the net and headed up to the blue line out of sight.... i was like "seriously? what the f***, dude?" he even stayed on the ice and didnt head off for a change. edit: i should note that i am NOT a hockey player, nor have i ever been educated on what to do if you play a certain position, but i dont recall seeing players just completely give the f*** up like that.

i laughed. Its really hard to say. I dont want to get blasted while catching a football while going on a slant route, and i'd also hate to be nailed on an open ice check w/ my head down. Both would make me cry for my mommy.

I would imagine it to be something like that. The game started off chippy and after that episode, it quieted right down. Pretty sure it was more of a message sender than anything. Sad to see it happen that way, if indeed that was the reasoning, i'd prefer legit calls all the way around, but detroit also gets there share of bad calls so take advantage of it while you can.
