Hjalmarsson Cheap Shot on Jason Pominville

Total F'ing Bull s*** that he put himself in that position. Pominville didn't change his angle or position at all on the play. If he spun his back towards him as he came in thats one thing. He looked over his shoulder and stayed in the exact same position. Hjalmerson's shoulder completely covers one number, its from the back, slight to the right side of his back. It is a dirty hit. Wont be a huge suspension but still likely to be one. I am not going to pretend like this is the dirtiest hit ever because I think Hjalmerson was just trying to make an aggressive pinch, but come the f*** on with blaming the victim in this s***. If you are the attacking player it is your responsibility to NOT hit someone from behind. This was a dangerous hit because of the angle. Take off the homer goggles and realize your team can make a dirty play as well... the two against use were ignored, not a bad ratio only getting caught 1/3 of the time.

    Rangers vs. Islanders 10/11

Rangers still playing awesome D in front of Lundqvist I see.... Sucks that that guy has to play for that team, he is so skilled.

Ritola will be traded or waived

The general consensus on Ritola was a hard working 3rd/4th liner correct? I thought he was a more than capable NHL'er and undoubtedly would be on other NHL teams but for the Wings I just didn't see him being necessary. Also I wasn't as impressed with his current ability as many on here seem to be. I understand he has more potential than a Miller or Eaves but I don't think this is the worst move ever, its a casualty of the business and of having a ridiculously deep team. Congrats to Stevie, that should shore up some questions on their bottom 6.

    JOE Seating Question

I'm going to be getting tickets to come to JLA. How are the seats in the 200's sections. I have heard they are all pretty good seats but I just wanna know for those that have been there.

    Line Musings

I think you are getting at a good point in that you can't rely on a single player to move the puck through center ice. Although I still think the way they have lines "expected" this year is better. Offense Holmstrom Datsyuk Zetterberg Bertuzzi Filppula Franzen Hudler Modano Cleary Abdelkader Helm Eaves Subs: Miller, Ritola, Draper The reason i feel like this is better is simply because Franzen does so much better when he has someone to take the "big man" role off of him. Bertuzzi knows his role and will essentially perform it better than hudler could. Also Franzen is quite good at moving through the neutral zone as well. As we all know the lines will change a fair amount and i wouldn't mind seeing hudler ont he second line, but I see bertuzzi as the better fit for Franzen and Filppula.

Your Favorite Player on Each Team?

Bruins - David Krejci Sabres - Ryan Miller Canadiens - Tom Pyatt Senators - Daniel Alfredsson Leafs - J.S. Giguerre Devils - Parise Isles - Kyle Okposo Rangers - Henrik Lundqvist Flyers - Mike Richards Penguins - Staal Thrashers - Evander Kane Hurricanes - Eric Staal Panthers - David Booth (because of the root beer summit) Lightning - Vincent Lecavalier Capitals - Ovechkin Flames - Iginla Avalanche - Stastny(sp) Oilers - Penner (only player i've even cared about as I used to have him on my fantasy team back in the day) Wild - Clutterbuck Canucks - Sedin's Blackhawks - Toews Blue Jackets - Rick Nash Red Wings - Helm! Predators - Hornqvist Blues - Backes Ducks - Teemu Selane or Hiller Stars - Loui Eriksson Kings - Anze Kopitar (because every announcer pronounces it differently) Coyotes - Bryzgalof Sharks - Joe Pavelski Did that without the help of a roster hence a few spelling errors.

Most Talented Players of all time.

This was on the puck daddy blog. Here are the links to the two videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZjBvMncouU&feature=player_embedded part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXemlGWOH6k part 2 Gotta love Datsyuk being the ONLY active player on the list! I guess kovalev counts but still.

    John Madden to Minnesota Wild

I've never understood their rationale of having players not able to crack their line up last year be better than the ones they are replacing essentially. Proven NHL'ers is VERY VERY different from good AHL and other minor league players. They are just hoping and they have a very homerish view that "they'll be fine" with the kids.

Most Talented Players of all time.

I'm pretty sure in the video a few people were talking about how he reinvented the position by being able to attack and get back into position before anything happened. His +/- was ridiculous if its any indication of his all around prowess. He was ahead of his time by leaps and bounds.

    Helm signs 2 year extension

This makes me incredibly happy. Helm is possibly one of my favorite players on the wings right now. Plus my GF bought me a helm jersey so I am stoked to wear it once the season starts! Go Helm! Go Wings!

    20 goal scorers

The ones i see as being as close to for sures: Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Hudler, Franzen potentials are Filppula, Modano, Bertuzzi, and Cleary So like people are saying the top 9, but I chose 8 because i believe that a lot of it depends on the roles that people fill, playmaker vs finisher and the chemistry between the lines.

    I'm Boycotting the Winter Classic...

You know the curse is on the away team and has nothing to do with the winner or loser. Pitt won the game in buff and lost in the finals, Det won the game in chicago and lost in the finals, Philly lost the game in boston and lost in the finals. All the away teams represented their conference in the finals and lost in their respective year. So washington would make it to the finals and lose...unless thats what you implied because then pitt wouldn't make it to the finals.

Kids drop the gloves and are ready to fight

Yea I'm pretty sure you don't know what you are talking about. In any AAA hockey you are allowed to fight (obviously there are penalties). Travel leagues A AA etc it is the more strict penalties but still never a match penalty. The only places i have seen where fighting is looked down on majorly is at the high school level. This is only because the high schools are liable in some way for the health of the kids out there and no schools wants to have a bad rep in that area. The person who quoted the rule book shows the usa hockey rules, which there isn't even a mention of a match penalty. The only match penalties i've heard of are when the player is physically endangering a kids life and that doesn't include fighting. Using your skate to kick or slice someone is an example. Also racial slurs can be cause for a match penalty.

The Blues to Win the Central This year?

Just felt like he didn't do much research and went off rumors and hearsay. He definitely has weird definitions or parameters for the trending up, down, and sideways thing.

Picture in need of a caption.

I'm not going to do the caption....but you all know this was taken in Winnipeg I believe. Its not in chicago.

    Remaining Free Agents

Drapers usefulness is getting limited but he can still play well enough for a 4th line role. Holmstrom had 25 goals last year and to say he needs to go because he's soft is just ridiculous.

    Brett Lebda signs with Toronto

Yea that was an exaggeration about the interview. It sounded like a typical interview for a guy who was cast off from his previous organization. No one in their right mind would come out and say "Yea I wasn't good enough back there so I came here where I can crack the top 6." I thought it was a fine interview and wish him the best on a rebuilding team.

2 years ago he literally carried the blues to a playoff birth. I think for a team that is in a rebuilding phase he'll be able to solidify that goaltending.

I believe capgeek has the bonus' figured in. I could be wrong but currently with huet on the roster and the bonus' figured in they have 4ish mill left in cap.

I would have a field day at work (I live in chicago land with a bunch of hawks fans obviously). That would be the best news of the FA period.

I wouldn't bet against it. Huet is pretty much dead in chicago. Financially they can probably do this because they sell out every game now and they just won a stanley cup (aka extra revenue). Plus its almost like addition by subtraction, you take out huet and can field a strong team in front of your goaltender. I'd be more than happy to have huet stay in the net as a back up for chicago, that just means they will be that much weaker up front. I'm skeptical of it actually happening.

They have to pay him regardless. Rocky is a completely different owner than Dollar Bill. No matter where is playing they have to pay him 5 mill, unless they trade him or he is picked on waivers. He plays in the NHL, obviously he gets paid. Rockford: 1 way contract he gets paid. KHL: Paid in order to count on his contract years.

Oh and I would be ecstatic if we got asham. I think that guys is someone who would do well in the wings system. He plays the gritty style we would want. Granted his fighting isn't there as much anymore but I'm one of those that feel that fighting is extremely overrated and used by teams who simply don't have the talent to try and even the playing field. The Red Wings have that talent, most of the time fighting would be a detriment.
