It is really hard for me to be mindful of what I'm eating. I manage to do okay for breakfast (granola bar, banana, and skim milk or green tea) and lunch (a low calorie frozen meal, fruit, maybe a pudding cup or some crackers). It's dinner that gets me. We had a busy week last week and went out to eat more than usual, and even when we were home I didn't eat many vegetables or pay attention to my portion sizes. I am still slightly overwhelmed by the difference between recommended portion sizes and how much people usually eat. When I do eat the smaller portions, I don't actually feel hungry afterwards, but I kind of feel like I should be, if that makes sense. I'm going to pre-plan our meals for this week and that normally does help me, since we'll only have these particular foods in the house. I do like the house-building analogy. I'll have to remember that one.

Keep traffic in mind if you decide to go up to Hockeytown Authentics. The rush hour traffic at I-75 and I-696 can be an absolute beast. I can't help too much with the pre-game food ideas, since we never seem to have enough time between work/school and puck drop. A co-worker of mine can't say enough good things about Cobo Joe's, though. He says it does fill up quickly on game nights, so get there early if you go.

I managed to do 45 minutes on the elliptical every day last week. Given how this involved getting up far earlier than I normally would have, it's no mean feat. A couple of the days I even managed to scrape up enough energy to do 30 minutes of Dance Dance Revolution after work. I've also changed my diet so as to avoid artificial sweeteners-- I've heard a lot about how they can cause many vague, unpleasant symptoms, all of which I seem to have, so I'm seeing if they're the cause. BUT, my diet was absolutely horrible last week. Too many fried and fatty foods in too large of portions. I'm really unhappy with myself about it, but I tend to be a comfort eater, so if I think about what I've done I set up a negative feedback cycle that's very hard to break.

Not I. I have apparently always been invisible to the sort of guys who would be interested in a one night stand. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing. The person below me is a social butterfly.

Avoid at all costs. Host Thanksgiving dinner at your own home or go to a relative's house?

I don't love the Smurf Turf, but that red turf looks like it would cause eye pain over the course of a game. And speaking of eyes.... keep wearing glasses or get Lasik?

I was, but then neither Cleary nor Holmstrom put in the third goal. The person below me has a hole in one of the socks they are wearing.

So, how about that mystery missile in L.A.? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/8122177/Mystery-missile-launch-in-US-the-theories.html I'm not sure I buy the "it was just a plane" explanation. Especially because it took so long to come out with it.

Neither, actually. I'm trying an experimental giving-up of artificial sweeteners as of tomorrow morning. (Splenda if I weren't, though.) Do homework or go to bed early?
-
Nope. The person below me would rather have a nice serving of salmon than take a fish oil pill.

Maybe, but it seems more likely to me that Eaves or maybe even Miller would be rotated into the 2nd line if Mule's out for a game or two and Hudler would be left on the 4th line. It would be interesting to see what Eaves can do with more minutes and Filppula and Bert as linemates. Babs does have options besides promoting Hudler, thank goodness! (At least unless and until Hudler pulls his head out of his bum.)

Dunkin Donuts, of those two, but I really prefer Tim Hortons. Mmmmm, donuts.... What's scarier to watch late at night alone: alien abduction shows or ghost shows?

Sometimes. But I have yet to be the person to the left or the right of you. The person below me thinks it's too dark too early. Stupid time change. *grumble*

45 minutes on the elliptical this morning and a ~2 mile walk this afternoon. I kind of get the feeling I'm starting from further out of shape than the rest of you. But it's still better than nothing.

Mmmm, cinnamon toast and hockey gossip! That's way better than chores. I haven't bought anything Christmas-related yet, but I've been thinking of gift ideas, at least. The person below me has at least one person who is utterly impossible to buy gifts for.

It had promise, but it took too long for too little reward. The person below me thinks I should get up and get some chores done.

Heating pad. Sam Bernstein or Dr. Rahmani?

Only if a monster or an alligator is chasing me. (I have a not-so-great left knee-- tore my ACL in a roller hockey game a few years back. So running is contraindicated. I do jog on the no-knee-impact elliptical regularly, though.) The person below me thinks my answers are too long-winded for these simple forum games.

I'm really torn on this one. I liked Hudler the first time around, but he's not showing a whole lot of character or hard work yet this season. If he gets in gear I want him with the Wings but if he plans to just glide through the season I'd really rather he'd stayed in Russia. Is Abdelkader going to be: a grinder a scorer a wonderful combination of the two?

It was also good to see Ericsson right there after Abby got pushed into the net, glaring at the Oilers like he was daring them to try to hurt Abby while he was down. The big lug may learn to use his size after all.

My husband talks in his sleep and then wakes himself up while he's talking and tries desperately to make whatever nonsense he was saying make sense so I won't think he was talking in his sleep. It generally doesn't work.

Want curtains but have blinds. Stupid apartment. 80s music or 60s music?
-
Not familiar with it. I'm old and behind the times. The person below me will manage to stay up through the entirety of the Wings' game tonight.

My apologies, it's 110, not 108. That's what I get for not checking before posting!
