Refs know damn well that early PP's produce the least goals, cause your PK unit is still fresh. A fresh PK unit trumps a fresh PP unit. So they gave Phoenix 3 Penalties in the first 10 minutes...and then called 5 straight on Detroit.

Never did quite figure out why people were talking crap about Fil in the first place. Aside from the fact that everyone is fickle, and only sees the worst in a player when things aren't going great. For example. Goalie makes 30 saves. Lets one in. It loses the game. You'll always remember that one goal, more than the other 30 saves. Filppula has always played the way he is playing now. It's just that...he's getting a lot better with it. He's making smarter decisions on when to shoot and when to pass. He's playing a bit more physical. A players skill, and how a player is "doing at the moment" are not always the same thing. But skillwise, Filppula this year looks the same as Filppula last year. He's just getting that experience under his belt, and working his way out of Rookie-hood. I'm not surprised at all by his success. You could almost tell from the moment of his first game that "one day" he was going to make a statement out there.

I can never tell if Mindfly is serious or not :-p I just surely hope not While I have noticed the obvious decline in Lidstrom much like everyone else.....50+ points is still pretty solid for a defenseman. Most Defenseman in their primes could only dream about getting that many points in a season. His experience is too invaluable. He offers too much to our young defensemen. What he does with them, what he teaches them, and the influence he will have on our young D-guys.....that alone is priceless.
