11/6 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Canucks 6

Well, a period at least. Can blame a million things. If Hudler hadn't crossbarred. If Kronwall had drew the penalty when he got tripped. If we hadn't played back to back games, and 3 in 4 nights...etc, etc, etc. Bottom line, we just ran out of gas, and Vancouver is too good an offensive team to run out of gas with. I called 5-4 earlier in the thread. Figured it would be high scoring. Didn't see that sixth one coming though :-p We had the PP chances early, and did not convert. Our PP takes the "Puck possession" thing a bit too far. Having 2 minutes of time with the puck isn't worth much if you're getting 2 weak shots from the outside. I get the feeling Detroit is going to be working the PP a lot in practice.

Smart by Cleary to pull his hands in. Removed any doubt that he willingly knocked it in. You could tell he knew it was coming right for him though. Kinda a dirty goal, but those are the goals that win championships.

Vancouver isn't the kind of team you can't shut out easily. Coming into this game both Sedins have more points than our Dats-Zett combo. Vancouver is a pretty dangerous team offensively. We're playing back to back games. Vancouver isn't. I think it'll open up lot more in the second. I'm kind of expecting a high scoring game. 5-4ish, but it's hard to predict a winner.

10/28 GD: Coyotes 4 at Red Wings 2

I very rarely speak poorly about anyone's play. Go ahead.....search my history, I'm generally an optimist. But oh my god..........did someone inject the Red Wings with a suck syrup? The game is not over. The Redwings did great at outshooting, and trying to take control. Some aspects of their system are working. But the mistakes, the turnovers, the overall lack of "concern" about the game.....

I have given you a +1. Don't know what that means......but I'm sure it's good. I was having trouble with atdhe. To be honest, I formatted my computer, so I lost a good deal of my links. Atdhe.....I'm not sure what it stands for. I was spelling it athde, and atdhe, and ahtde, and everything but what I needed. Here is the kicker. Most of those "incorrect" names, actually lead to sites that were owned, and operated, and developed. Mostly scwag sites.....guys trying to profit on the mispelling of people looking for other sites.

I know. I grew up in Michigan, and walking to the store was near IMPOSSIBLE cause of the acid pits, and hellfire. But what really use to irk me was the demons that would fly around dive bombing fire and lightning on me. It's rough growing up here

Isn't it cool when you reach that point of fan-dom, where you know deep inside that you've become a true fan.........and then when you're team is the absolute s*** year after year..... Ah yes. I'm blessed to have lived in this era of Red Wings hockey

Red Wings new No.1 in TSN's NHL Power Rankings

Still, 8 games without a regulation loss..... I mean, I don't see them going very far, and their luck is going to run out, but it's still an interesting method of staying in/ahead of the game Pretty rare start IMO.

Precisely. Having to kill off 3 penalties to 1 in the 1st is not an uncommon situation. The fact that there were no penalties from that point on, left everyone on an even playing field. Not surprisingly, the game played out VERY evenly. We won in the last 11 seconds. I fear, some of the players are so use to the refs changing the flow of a game for them, that when it gets cut off they don't know what to do. I'm sure by the end of the second they were thinking "Wtf, where's our powerplays?" They were kinda sloppy calls, but it makes me wonder......how many games would be so much better, if it was more 5 on 5, and less penalty time.

"Why I hate this obnoxious hockey team"

The "Pushing your buttons" thing. Lol....she didn't add that until she had about 500 negative comments. For those who didn't notice this early. She posted this article, and within a day had hundreds of highly negative comments. One of two of them might even have been posted by me. She then changed her email, which at one point was her email, to a slogan saying something like "Red Wings fans need to learn to take a joke!" Then, she changed her profile again, to toss in all the stuff about "Pushing your buttons". No sir. when she wrote it, she was dead serious. Just a poor lady, whom didn't have much hockey experience outside Dallas fans, and so since her 10 or 11 friends all felt how she felt, she assumed her article would garner similar support on line. Then....reality ***** slapped her, and she changed her entire profile, email, and probably her underwear when she crapped her pants at the response. If you read the replies, it really makes you feel proud. There are f***in Toronto fans, posting in defense of the Wings over there. It's like, 90% of the replies not only bash this lady, but defend the Wings as well.

Perhaps still a chance for Lidstrom to win another Norris?

I think Lidstrom is a bit sloppier than normal, but I think he still knows what it takes to win. He's had a less than "Lidstrom-like" defensive start, but he seems to be doing pretty damn well offensively for an old man He won't be the same player this year, but "IF" we are successful, he will still play a new type of instrumental part.

    The Todd Appreciation Station

Let him go 2 games without a point, and we'll see a "Bertuzzi needs to go!!" thread pop up. :-p Ahh, the fickle fickle life of fans. I never didn't like him. He has ALWAYS, ALWAYS brought something to any team he has played for. He's streaky. He is not often the best defensively, but that dude has always been known for Game winning goals, and strong playoff performances. He's the kind of player you can't always count on, but when you need him the most, he shows up. The fact that he's leading our team in points, shows that our second line is genius. And as of last night, I'd qualify our first line as genius too. Good thing we have Hudler, Modano, and Cleary to talk s*** about, until, ya know, Bert starts slumping again. Makes me miss the old days, back in 97 when Wings fans weren't smart enough to figure out anything more than the announcers told us. Ah the glory days of ignorance and bliss Bert is just doing what we brought him in years ago to do. Those of you who don't remember a younger Bert, before he played for the Wings, prior to his injuries he was an offensive force, and a physical force. A relatively notable one. He's been up and down for years, torn between having a natural skill for the game, and a body that has taken too much of a beating. Glad he's felling well this year

    3 vs 3

I think our top 3 of Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom would provide a formidable challenge for any team, it's dumb to assume our top 3 is better than a lot of the top 3's out there. I will argue that our top 3 is better "Defensively" than just about any top three in the league, but there's a lot of firepower in the NHL right now. We'd break even in 3vs3 hockey. We wouldn't do poorly, but we certainly wouldn't win all the time.

    The Third Line

Cleary has been working harder than the rest of that line. If you're the only guy out there really trying, you burn yourself out a bit faster. I agree, it was mainly Cleary's fault, but overall he's the only one on the third line that is actually playing like a 3rd liner should play. The line is a bit of a disappointment so far. But then again, when your top 6 is producing, it buys time for your third line to click or not. If our top 6 were slumping, we'd be bitching about them. Since they're not, we just move onto the next target. I'm just surprised we haven't blamed Jimmy yet....since typically it goes Blame the Goaltender, then the top line, then the depth lines. Fortunately in Detroit, nobody is dumb enough to blame the coaching lol. An intangible that goes unnoticed, is that the third line is really running people up and down the ice, and wearing out the depth of other teams. Unfortunately, they're also letting in more goals than they are scoring...... I don't follow the mentality of many fans on this forum. I mean.....for gods sakes we had "Is Zetterberg slowing down" threads 5 games into the season......... While there's a lot of great fans on this forum, and admittedly when I get drunk I'm as much a retard fan as any.....I don't think it's time to give up on line 3 quite yet. There's three primary factors that the third line needs to work on. 1) Chemistry within the line. I honestly believe Cleary is the most important person on the line right now, because he works the hardest. They need to find a solution where Modano and Hudler can get room to move, instead of having our third line run breakout plays over and over, that typically get shut down in the neutral zone, or end up with a puck dump. Your third line in hockey is a grinder line, with occasional scoring. But in this third line you got Modano, who wants a solid close out year. You got Hudler who wants a solid come-back year, And you got cleary who wants to be ready to break the top six. All individual goals, and it is showing in their play-styles 2) The matchups. Playing a line of individuals against lines that are specifically put together to be "Shut down" lines (Aka the opponents third lines). This one is on Babcock. Our third line playing against other third lines, is leading to their third lines scoring more than ours is. The dilema here is that you can't move any guys upward, since the top 2 lines are clicking. But you can't move them down either. Perhaps just changing some pairings (Not within the lines, but in which lines they play against) will spark something. 3) Again, overpowered by the top lines, the third line gets less and less opportunity to produce in the game. This, unfortunately, is a spiral downward for a non-productive line. You go back five years, and you won't find any debates about the third lines production, because it wasn't expected. Now we expect it, and are being highly critical. I mean we're 5-1-1. We have a 3 game win streak (Longest current in the NHL). We're winning games like last night, that we could have easily lost. Franzen is scoring. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, are both scoring. Even Bertuzzi is doing well. What the HELL do you people want?

10/23 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 5

Considering the slow pace of the schedule, Howie for sure. He's 20 games without a regulation loss. No reason not to get him some net time.

    Zetterberg Slowing Down?

When you said a bag of pucks, I thought...."WHAT!!!! YOU'RE CRAZY!!!" Then you threw in the burger..... Sold. For a side of Fries I'll give you Datsyuk too. How about a Franzen for some ranch dipping sauce?

"Why I hate this obnoxious hockey team"

Lol best part of that article, is all of the articles underneath it. Supposedly by her profile she is a food and travel blogger, who is a retired cop. She also changed her "email" to say "Redwings fans need to learn to take a joke". I'm sure she changed it because she probably got FLOODED by hundreds of hate mails, lol. Good read. Made my night. If I was a Dallas fan the last several years, hate is what would have gotten me through too, cause god knows winning hasn't worked out for the team.
