It looks like it's gonna be 4-on-4

Seabrook is such a ******.

It's about god damn time too.

He's pretty annoying himself, to be honest.

I like the idea of seeding being based on the total number of points and not giving a team a top three spot automatically just because they won their division. Another interesting idea would be to do away with conferences and divisions and just have one league table. Top 16 teams make the playoffs. They could make "geographical regions" so that you would still get to play teams closer to you a bit more often in order to reduce travel for most teams. This way we could have more than one or two games per year against Toronto or Pittsburgh. It would also allow for the possibility of a Detroit vs. Chicago final for example; or Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia, etc. I don't like the idea of having 3 points for a winner, though. Imagine how weird the standings would look like. I like the new idea proposed by Holland (I think it was him that proposed it) where you play 5 minutes of 4-on-4 OT followed by 5 minutes of 3-on-3 OT. However, in that case, I would love to see the league go back to the old points system: 2 points for a win in regulation or OT 0 points for a loss in regulation or OT 1 point each for a tie (no shootouts!) They introduced the extra OT point because they felt that it would make the OTs more exciting since teams wouldn't worry so much about losing and winding up with nothing. But making OT 3-on-3 would solve that problem because you can't play it safe when it's 3-on-3; there is just too much space out there for that kind of strategy to work.

You know what would be hilarious? If both Chicago and Detroit tried to lose the game on Saturday in order to be 6th. It would be like playing hot potato with the 5th seed
-
Right but.... the most likely outcome will be a Nashville win against a Colorado team that has nothing left to play for. I guess the upside to being 5th is we would not have to travel out West in the first round.
-
Yeah, so then I guess that means all Detroit has to do is throw the game on Saturday and they're 6th. The worst part is that the Wings are playing first on Saturday so they can't really guarantee anything with a win.
-
The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs.
-
Believe it or not, they have even less ROW wins than us. But that's irrelevant now because they just lost.
-
If the 'Hawks lose here in OT then we are guaranteed either 4th or 5th but 4th would only be possible with a NSH loss on Saturday. I'd rather see the 'Hawks win here.

How does that change anything for us?

What if the Sharks win the Pacific?

And good luck to you with San Jose.

I can imagine that being frustrating. It happened once this year to me as well. The Wings were playing the Jets and the game was blacked out on Centre Ice because CBC was carrying the game. The problem was that CBC was also showing a couple of other games and different parts of Canada got different games. So I got shafted there. It's weird that you get to watch Kings' games on FS West but not Ducks'. Not to be insensitive to your situation (or anyone else's) but I don't think paying $200 to get access to about 1000 NHL games (in HD) per season is a lot of money. I think it's a very reasonable price. And like it was mentioned before, that includes all the games except your local market.
-
Or get Centre Ice. The point is that because you live outside of Vancouver you are supposed to get Centre Ice to be able to watch Vancouver games. I get SNP too and whenever the Canucks play, the channel is blacked out. So, when Detroit plays Vancouver I have to watch the game on one of the Centre Ice channels instead of the local channels. When the Wings play on TSN, CBC, or SNWest, I get to watch those games on TV. When they aren't showing the Wings' game on any of those channels, I have to then watch on Centre Ice.
-
I agree that ideally this would be a great way to please the fans. But I also don't see why it's a big deal to order a sports package from your local cable company so that you can watch your local team play all year long. And yes, I too only watch sports on TV. Everything else is downloadable
-
To me the league is handling this exactly the way it is supposed to be handled. The only reason to get NHL Centre Ice is to be able to watch out-of-market games, not your local team. That's what your local cable channels are for! I don't understand why people these days are so unreasonable. They think that paying a lousy $180 entitles you to every single NHL regular season game? In fact, that's almost what they are getting. And what makes any one think that they are entitled to millions of dollars just because the league is possibly doing something illegal (according to the way the law is written)?
-
Well, that about does it for the Central. I'm still hoping for a 50-win season but as long as they get at least 100 points I'll be somewhat happy.
-
He should've played that same song on both CBJ goals as well
-
I hear ya. To be honest, I was thinking the same thing for a few games before his injury. He might just turn out to be a solid bottom pairing d-man. I just don't understand how he could be paid almost as much as Kronwall or Stuart.

Nice call.

That's why we need Homer. Even when he doesn't touch the puck he creates such a disturbance in front of the net. The guy has 500 career points but he should have another 300-400 more. And to this day is underrated, even by some Wings' fans.
