Oh no you have me quite wrong. I loved Ozzie and always will for what he has done for us. I believe this was stated earlier somewhere but hey maybe its just metaphysics in action here. Without a doubt Osgood will end up in the Hall and I have always lobbied for that. But this was just simply the arguments at hand here. We are talking about first seasons and the comparisons to playoffs aren't that skewed. And yep you got me, the goaltending position has changed a TON since then, but with the scoring binges that happen nowadays and the #'s at hand, I still think Howie is a comfortable option to say the least.

CANNOT base any of this on his first year but I think we are in pretty good hands. Has time to control rebounds and hone his skills on these "exploited" inconsistencies he apparently has. Healthy team all year...I like our chances with Jimmy in there.

Just read in the free press today that Stevie is still the front-runner for the Lightning job. So its still a possibility.

The guy played like 30 more games then both of those guys. Ozzie's time has come and gone and we appreciated everything he has done here but Jimmy Howard from here on out. Yeah thats cool and being the biggest Ozzie slappy in here is as well so you would be blinded by the save. I picked a random video and you are over analyzing the dog crap out of it. But then again I realize you will pull out a statistical thread which will be about 4 pages long and I will still not be convinced that this guy isn't anything but our franchise tendy. Pump the brakes and realize the guy got us into the playoffs and played amazingly during a stretch when we had no one. Had 1 real bad game in the playoffs as a rook. I will take it. Not really the argument in the thread Carman. More so that we as hockey fans want to see a different team for once. Granted its just like how the Cavs and Lakers played on Christmas every year but basketball sucks. This is the same thing. Uncle Gary and his NBA habits and ways of force feeding Crosby/Ovie is really tiresome. Not speaking of the players' talents. IF there is a Winter Classic yearly, why not make it the 2 Stanley Cup teams or something similar to this USA/Canada thing I have been reading? He's been in my mind one of the more overrated players in the league. Assists are quite cute but he works for NOTHING. His goals, and I am extremely positive of this, have all been in front of the net on a garbage rebound. If garbage goals were a category which they sure aren't, he would be at the top of the list. He has sissy fits when his team is getting ran, ie. game 4 where Franzen beat the Sharks on his own. Going after a guy like Nick??? Classy. The stats do show a lot and so does the play. No argument would EVER show me that this guy isn't the most overrated player this league has.

Howie ownage Nabokov was on the team that won the series but did nothing to impress me at any point. And is currently getting owned by the Hawks. No consistent attack equals no tough saves made by Nabokov in that series really. videos don't really prove my points but its a Howie love fest here
