I don't like to make excuses, but I am going to blame injuries for this one. All these one goal loses and Franzen getting 0pts. I have to believe a healthy Mule puts them over the top.
-
It was remotely similar to what Avery did. That is the exact kind of thing the NHL clearly doesn't want it's players doing, and I don't blame them. I will agree the wording of the rule right now does make it iffy though, gutsy call by the ref especially since Pronger's arm was down before the shot.

I really don't understand why Columbus didn't offer him something good. He could have done very well there.
-
Man, I really wish I could hear what Babs was saying, and what actually happened there.
-
I could see Abdelkader becoming something like a mini Lucic for the WIngs.

Ya, that trade worked out well for the Wings. I mean hell at least Cheveldae even played a few seasons in Winnipeg...although now that I type that that might be more of a slight on Winnipeg than anything. Still though, Drakes awesome, and the other dude we got in the trade (Bautin?) hardly played any games, if any that I remember.

Miller
Bryzgalov
Kiprusoff
Brodeur
Backstrom
Lundqvist
Vokoun
Luongo
Fleury
Howard
I didn't too much though in the order so much, but it seems close enough to me.

Phoenix? St. Louis? Does he really have the desire to retire playing for those teams?
-
First - Too bad the player will have to want to play there and all of your examples are Russians or at least European, Huet is a Canadian and I HIGHLY doubt he has ANY desire to play in any league other than the NHL.
Second - All of your examples were "attempted" - It is yet to be executed and it will not be executed, there is too much bad blood between the leagues for it to ever work and Huet would have to reserve his career to ending in the KHL if this happened, as this would merely suspend his contract and it would have to honored upon his return to the NHL and that would not happen - see point 1
Thirdly - Nylander is a broken down shell of what he was and they could rationalize waiving him... how are they going to rationalize waiving Huet and sending him to the AHL when his numbers are relatively consistent with what he has been his whole career and what he was when he was signed to that ridiculous deal... also, even though he's not his father - remember who Chicago's owner is - 5m is a lot to eat for a team that is already going to be a shell of what they were and not likely to make a deep playoff run this upcoming year ESPECIALLY if they get a key injury or 2.
Your arguments are flawed and unreasonable... he could still end up in the AHL (even though there would be ramifications that I doubt Chicago wants) but to even suggest the KHL is asinine...
Lets call a spade a spade, for what they were handed by Tallon, they've actually done a pretty good job at least receiving picks for assets to fix the mess they were dealt... it's just SUCH a huge mess, there's no way to fix it outright... it's going to take time, but they are definitely doing a good job with the hand they were dealt...
Huet is not Canadian he is French. KHL is a possibility, and he COULD be waived. Would it make Chicago look bad, sure. You can't say it's not possible though.

I actually could see Eaves being the one to go, he really doesn't have a whole lot more upside than Miller a this point, and I think we could get a little more for Eaves in a trade than Miller too.
I don't really agree though that Miller was all that better on the PK though.

Every team and their fans for any sport, anywhere, wants an Yzerman.
-
Hey, let's get Sergei.
I'm sure if that actually happened Lidstrom would feel like he's seeing ghosts hah.
-
Did they trade for his rights or something?
-
Never said he was a free agent, was just comparing salaries to what he made last year, I have no idea what his next contract will be & neither do you, it's all speculation at this point. Still does not debunk my point that money could be spent more wisely & better talent generated.
Ya guys, why doesn't Holland just get Stamkos?! He had 51! goals last season, and is making .875mil a year! Surely the added offense would help the team right?
Edillac reacted to this -
I am all for this, I would rather have him than Miller, and maybe Eaves too, especially since we are going to have Abdelkader full time.
-
Draper's contract is a big fat joke
It's bad, but it really isn't much of a problem. $1.5m isn't that bad for Drapes, he brings a lot of intangibles.
Veery reacted to this -
Agreed, that'd be too many big contracts for Detroit anyway.

Lecalvier is better then Filpulla, Downie is better then Cleary and has way more potential. Yzerman would never take this deal.
Honestly with the way Stamkos has been playing though I could see them wanting to dump Vinny's contract, and I think Filppulla/Cleary+some sort of picks and prospects landing him. Downie could be a bit much after the way he has been playing, but I think that could land Vinny. Their second line would look real good with Filppula and Cleary on it.
people need to stop with the lebda thing. Why in the hell would anyone want him? Yzerman isn't a fool, he'd never take lebda. This isn't NHL10. Real life GM's have brains unlike stupid A.I of a simulated video game
Dude chill I was kidding about Lebda, you just have to throw him in there. If you're gonna dream, dream big right?

My post is being eaten by some linux or something.

Obviously Cleary has a NTC, but if the Wings offered Stevie Filppula, Cleary, and hell why not Lebda, for Lecavalier and someone like Downey I do't see any reason why he wouldn't take it. The way Stamkos has been playing and the size of Vinny's contract would both help the Wing's chances of landing him. With about equal salary going back each way I don't see why it couldn't hypothetically work. mmmm..

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom
Franzen-Lecavalier-Hudler
Bertuzzi-Helm-Eaves
Abdelkader-Draper-Downie

Obviously there's some bias there. Especially toward players of our generation, but it's all for fun anyway. Tried to add a mix of speed, skill, and grit. Of course Probert has to be there as the best enforcer of all time.
