Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

WEBERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I think that an either of the OHL russians would be a steal. Namestnikov and Khokhlachev. these players are ranked too low for their talent. they had slow starts to the season due to the adjustment to north american style of play, but finished their seasons strong and are ready to fight their way to the nhl rather than run back to the khl.
-
I've done research on all of them and i can see shades of current and former NHL players in them, for example: Vladislav Namestnikov - Igor Larionov -- Great vision, hands, and passes. Thinks team first. Mika Zibanejad - Dustin Brown -- Gritty, power forward that brings offense to the table. Leadership skills Tomas Jurco - Maxim Afinogenov -- Slick hands, good skater, elusive with high offensive skills Alexander Khokhlachev - Nicklas Backstrom(caps of course) -- Smart, high offensive player with good hand eye and nice vision. Can playmake and find the twine. Joel Armia - Vincent Lecavalier -- Big in size and in play and very patient with the puck. Note: this does not mean that these players will amount to their comparisons, I just see similarities in playing style and poise on the ice

Zibanejad would be excellent but my gut tells me hes gonna go early. My top 5 wants for the Wings(that are remotely possible) 1. Vladislav Namestnikov 2. Mika Zibanejad 3. Alexander Khoklachev 4. Tomas Jurco 5. Joel Armia In no particular order
-
What do you guys think on Namestnikov?
-
I too, agree with this. If we could get Lucic for Franzen with a cherry on top, I would be satisfied.
-
anyone else realize that without rafalski we could get weber. actually we could get a lot without rafalski. hes way too overpaid.
-
I want no one more than I want Vladislav Namestnikov in this draft. Slava Kozlov's nephew, compared to both Igor Larionov and Datsyuk, and has played and adjusted to the North American style of play. If he's still available, the Wings MUST draft him. Plus, a passing center with a great two way game could do wonders setting up this guy.

It will be a difficult task but i think Ken Holland can get the job done. I'm thinking for Franzen and a draft pick and the bruins will be seduced by this deal, plus both teams would benefit. Lucic is starting to develop consistency, something Franzen has been lacking, (ie: five goals in one game followed by one goal in about 25 games). Lucic will bring some youth to the oldest team in the league along with toughness that will be very appreciated. Franzen is a veteran forward who has playoff experience and has won a cup. He's a winner with heart, a clear intangible that Boston will want.

If the wings complete this comeback, then they need a clip of the wings fans singing Journey at the Joe while the wings win it and have it say, History doesn't stop believing.
-
While i've always wanted a player with more grit, because i think it will lead to less injuries, Milan Lucic has always been appealing to me. One of the leagues toughest players, only outscored by one red wings forward this year and only 22 years old? Sounds good to me. This is of course if Ken Holland doesn't get Weber, which wouldn't be surprising. I think the wings could definitely use a tough player, because if an opposing player is thinking about doing something with intent to injure a wing, he may think twice if he sees someone as tough as Lucic or Weber on the bench or ice.

Maybe i've missed it, but i believe that the nhl has left the wings winning two in a row for vladdy out of their history vs. history bracket for the best moments in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. LINK: http://history.nhl.com/

my GT:x13wings13x my club just won the pro playoffs last season and are hanging tight in the elite league. one more d-man is all we need.

He should be given three options for discipline for all his plays that have caused injury that have went unpunished: 1. 2 season suspension 2. have the words "Classless *****" branded on him in 10 spots, 2 of which have to be the face 3. Be goalie in the hardest shot competition in every All Star Game until 2020, while in his regular equipment , and Chara is allowed to cork his stick.(if that's possible)

I don't know. This does look really nice. http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/5651/sheaweber.png

i definately wouldn't say theyre that low. nashville could change their colors to red and white.
-
honestly, even after the slow season this year, a player i've always wanted on the wings is Anton Volchenkov. I got excited thinking that maybe the rumor of the devils helping us get nabokov meant there could be a trade with him in a package deal for Volchenkov, since the goaltending situation in new jersey has been so iffy this year.

We all know that every Red Wings on the ballot this year can easily make it, plus Jimmy Howard who is not on the ballot. http://vote.nhl.com/ There is the link to vote. You can vote up to 30 times a day. Lets get every member on this site to spend roughly 30 minutes a day to use up their votes and make the Top 6 players be the Wings.

Well, not exactly thirty but as fast as you can. I've gotten close because iv'e been doing it every day since voting has started. Plus, if we can get every member (about 9000 members) to vote 30 votes a day, then the wings can get almost 300,000 votes a day plus other fans who do not use this website. That's more than enough to put them on top. I encourage every member that reads this to do so and spread around the idea like wildfire.
